After some financial issues i had to get rid of my 16 plate Cupra :(
I've now managed to get back into a 2013/63 3 door SC 1.6 tdi Technology DSG ... BUZZING :bounce:

There is Seat Europe map card in the second SD slot but when you press Nav, it says to "insert a data medium"

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!?!?!?!?!?

I've tried it in both slots. is it out of date? can i update for free?

IF the card is a genuine SEAT item it sounds like it may not have been coded to the car. Do the file versions look consistent with the age of the car or does it look like someone has tried to update them (this can only be done by the dealer on an MIB1 unit)?

Updates are not free. The cost about £110 for the card and £50 for the coding.

Easy bits to answer first: 2013/63 models had the MIB1 Nav Unit (assuming its original OEM).

This can not be upgraded for free - this can only be done on the MIB2 units. New maps are available via the dealer for c.£100; I believe they need to be configured to the car/nav unit and are not simply plug and play.

With respect to the current card, try removing it and reading it via a pc to see if there are actually any files on the SD Card.

When new the car should have been supplied with a dvd style box case and SD card - do the software versions on the box and SD card match those read via PC?

Previous owner/dealer may have incorrectly tried to update, or the file may be corrupt. Or the SD card might not be the original one, and is not configured to the car.

If the files look ok, then try rebooting the infotainment unit - press and hold power button for 30 seconds - release power button when the unit starts to boot up. Place the card back into the SD card slot, and see if it works.

The card and files look legit. Plugged it into the PC last night.

I'll try the reboot thing tonight to see where i get with that. I'm going to assume the garage has maybe tried updating or doing something when it got serviced presale maybe? idiots.

Failing that, i'll call the local garage and keep you updated as to what they say!

Thanks for the responses guys.

Just my 2 cents, but on both my Leon and Ibiza, they were both in SD card slot 1 (the Nav SD card). I might have read somewhere (but cannot confirm) that this slot 1 is reserved for Nav data.

Did they expand on why they thought that they could update the maps further.
