Plasti Dip

Looking to Plasti Dip the front grill; including the chrome and badge.

Has anyone done it and have any tips before I do it? Eg. Use primer or removing chrome first...

I cant remember tbh where I bought the genuine stuff from.

I did buy from plasti dip uk who swore their products where genuine usa but didn't compare to the second genuine can I bought.

Used it on my Porsche and MK1 Leon, genuine USA stuff its easy to apply and peel off.

I did mine the other night. Didn' bother with primer etc just cleaned the area and masked it up well.
Added a pic, I'm pleased with the result.

How many layers did you use?

I went with 4 fairly thick layers. About 10 mins drying time between each.

Did you do the full grille or just the badge and surround?
Wanting to do my surround this weekend but thinking about using glossifier on top -prefer a shiney finish but seeing youtube vids it makes the finish patchy

I masked up most of the grille and only sprayed the surround. Then did the badge separate. I think with the glossifiers you have to do much lighter coats with slightly longer drying times but i have not used them myself.
Added pics of process i did for surround.

One thing i would add it to always sit the can in warm/hot water first to slightly heat the plasti-dip, obviously shake well and spray onto a spare sheet of paper or somewhere before spraying each coat as it helps clear any potential blockages from the spray nozzle that can cause large splats and means the paint sprays nice and evenly.

Well my first attempt didn't go great. Followed instructions but seemed to get a few bubbles which obviously I don't want but nevermind; I'll try again

Hi guys I just got some pre cut wrap from eBay stuck it on just now, now I know it doesn’t look perfect and there’s still chrome, just looking for your (HONEST) opinions? Don’t be nice. Will actually be interesting to see how long they last

I didn't use panel wipes but I did wipe the area down first
