Is their any reason why the coming home lights seem to be brighter than my dipped lights?

May be a rather stupid question to someone with any knowledge

Yes, the LED signature lights, when your dipped beam is on, are dimmed to the same level as when you indicate on DRL's. However, when coming home lights are on, there is no dimming.

EDIT: headlights themselves should be the same

Ahh, yes it's still the same these FL these days. DLR has 2 modes, on 0 (on switch) it's on 100% brightness, on sidelights, it's perhaps 30-40% brightness, on regular dipped beam, it's also 30-40% brightness + dipped beam. On coming home, the dipped beam are on, and the DRL are on 100% brightness.

Interestingly, with the Facelift, when the light switch is set to sidelights and the ignition is on, they still remain at 100% brightness and don't dim. They only dim when the ignition is switched off (and still set to sidelight position), or when the headlights are on.
