Had a small run in with a total knob tonight he was doing 30 in a 40 as a 40 approached a 60 i over took him safely at a touch more than 40 and accelerated about 20m before the 60 **** head was going mental flashing his lights as i over took so I just carried on and got caught up in some slow moving traffic and stopped at a junction at the end of the road where he was going crackers behind and proceeded to point at his dash cam and i could see him ******* about with it obviously saving it. Would he be saving it to show his mates my sexy copra or getting it ready to send to the cops cant see how i did much wrong as i was doing less than 50 as i passed him do those cams record speed too

I wouldn't worry about anything. Dashcams are dubious evidence of anything at the best of times, they wont use it for speeding, especially in cases where its marginal.

The dashcam records his speed, and the courts don't recognise civilians as expert witnesses, so his estimate of your speed won't fly in court. You might go viral on Youtub, but I doubt it.
As you say, just a ******** with a dashcam.

If the car wasn't so loud they probably wouldn't take much notice. Ive been flashed a couple of times for overtaking under hard throttle, but I never end up going that fast top end. With cameras and traffic being what they are you cant speed excessively, so hard acceleration (for about 3 seconds) is all you have.

Had that many times, followed a Prius doing 30 in a 60 last night then when I went past him he was flashing like mad. Funniest one was a few years ago somebody giving me the bird as I turned right at a roundabout, so I went all the way round and they pulled into BP not knowing I had come all the way round. Pulled up and got out asked him what his issue was... claimed it wasn't him. Thinking about it that was years ago now as had my red FR TDI then.

It never used to be like this, people have become really conservative and joyless on the roads now. I think its the huge increase in older drivers. Worse around here is that those older drivers seem to prefer the A/B roads to the motorway, and drive really slowly on them, making any spirited driving even harder.

Not dashcam related but sitting in a slow moving queue tonight on a dual carriageway where it goes into 2-way and there was a guy behind me in an old KA in such a rage that he was throwing himself around in the drivers seat and making the whole car rock from side to side. He was hitting the steering wheel so hard the wipers came on. Total fruitloop so kept a close eye on him in case he drove into me!

I have front and rear dashcams. I also hate drivers with dashcams. All these saddos who put it all up on their Facebook pages and YouTube videos. I have them purely for the reason I don’t trust anyone on the road. Bet his had the cable dangling down in front of the windscreen into the cigarette light too lol. Honestly it’s so much hassle getting the clips off the camera it’s absolute waste of time unless it’s important. Amount of cut ups, brake checks etc I have had done to me but who really cares about a stupid video? I hate people like that. And I can’t stand people who go 10mph under the limit then flash you when you overtake SAFELY. What’s your point? Speed up or allow an overtake. I’m sure they’d rather not have the LED lights shining into their mirror at night for their whole journey. Tossers.

I got mine after saying I’d get one for years and then someone drove into the back of my wife.

But come on, some of the videos are entertaining. Mine links to the phone so no messing.about. It’s first drive out with it (hardwired) I caught some road rage behind me which was very entertaining!

Not to mention being sucked in by speed kills propaganda.

Mines paid for itself. Had a couple of accidents, ironically both of which I was stationary at the time. Other driver tried to play it down like I was at fault too. Cause yeah, I crash a lot with the handbrake on and in neutral. Once I pointed to the dash cam their story suddenly changed.

I got one for Christmas and only just started using it for the same reason. My one is a NextBase and you can link it to your phone and very easily save the clips, not sure if others work similar to this?

It's amazing how many of those people that send in to those Youtube compilations that are actually in the wrong!!
It really does go to show people don't know the rules of the road :roflmao:

To the original poster, i wouldn't worry, if you do end up on Youtube you'll have a laugh showing your friends and family how much of a boob he is.

Yes I have the newest model and top of range next-base 522GW with the rear window camera. However the myconnect app for the camera is temperamental. Sometimes it’ll connect easily and the videos are there perfectly. Other times it won’t connect you have to reset the Bluetooth devices, re connect it from scratch. Most of the time it’s just easier to pull out the card and stick it into the computer and look at them that way....

Edit; ik not actually sure why nextbase can make amazing camera with great software on them but can’t then make an app that works reliably
