Hi all.

Just looking for a Little advice.

I took wrong turn on an exit on dual carriage way which resulted in my car only half winning a fight with a wooden stump.

No one was injured thank God and he must have been smiling too as there where no other cars coming on the other lane either at the time.

But Ive managed to do some damage to the front bumper, tyre and radiator on the passenger side. Coolant leaking out. Think the stump went under the front left of the bumper and out thru the wheel.

The car was drivable with the flat, couldn't hear knocking or anything but had to drive around half a mile after the car warned about coolant.

I'm not sure where to go from here with it. Turned it off as soon as it was in a safe place but thinking about recovery now.

Can the Leon's (cupra 300) be towed?
How would it work with the elec handbrake?
Could I change the tyre and keep the rad topped up with water every few miles til I get to a garage?
Or should I just get a recovery truck?

Just thought id open up to the knowledgeable people on here for some advice.

Thanks in advance.

Car Length In Front
You can turn the electronic handbrake off, just need to turn the auto off (button next to it).

DSG Cars used to have to be flatbedded rather than towed .... is this still the case these days ?

Hi all.

So here's a quick update.

Was able to get the car to a garage.
Got some coolant running through the system in it before it was started Nd it got me home.

Here's the list of the repair needed.

New front bumper & respray
Intercooler radiator
Plastic housing for rad.
Wheel arch cover.
New wishbone. (Clipped the nuckle of it had a dent so recommended I replace)
New tyre (Michelin ps4 I had just had put on like 10weeks before)

Also maybe need to have front assist recalibrated. But not sure.

All in all around £1800 worth of damage.

Just shows how one quick manoeuver can cost. But also could have been much much worse.

Just on the car itself, even though it was hobbled it still got me home, these are some pieces of engineering.

Thanks to everyone for their help and comments. Stay safe out there.

Good news is you are safe and nobody hurt, cars can always be mended / replaced.

You were also very lucky you did not break the lights as that would have added a lot more to your bill.

Why not just claim on insurance especially at £1800 damage.

always worthwhile to pay for protected NCB

Yeah I thought about it but haven't got to 4 years yet to get the protected NCB and I think my excess maybe quite high too.

Should be able to get the PNCB on the next round of premiums.

Just a quick update on this.

So I have had the damage repaired, total bill came to £1550, which wasnt too bad.

Just got the problem now that the front looks so much newer and shinier than the rest of the car. haha.
Might have to treat her to a good polish.

Also i hope it ok to do on here but I just wanted to give a quick shout out to the body shop that did the repair, as they did a really good job getting it sorted for me and couldn't do enough to help et everything sorted.
