I'm thinking of buying the copper coloured Cupra R wheels or having my standard wheels done in copper. I've quickly edited a picture of a wheel to show what I would be doing to the wheel if I customised it (The colour isn't quite right but it gives you an idea). What are your opinions?

I usually don't like wheels that have been re-painted in ways that differ from manufacturers standards.. but I like those!

Thanks for the feedback. I've sent off for a quote. If anyone knows a company in the Edinburgh area capable of doing the above, let me know. I've so far just contacted wheelspecialist and awaiting their response.

Brother got his refurbished for £360. Included Machining kerbing damage and reapplying the clear coat.
Gives you an idea of cost at least.

I think the ‘customised’ finish that you’re looking for involves applying a tinted clear coat to the wheel. So if you’re planning on getting your existing wheels finished in copper rather than buying new ones, it’d be worth checking that the wheel refurbishment company you’re thinking of using offer customised finishes on diamond cut alloys that would achieve this look.

if you’re planning on getting new wheels, if Seat are anything like VW, be prepared for a shock on the price, as buying genuine OEM VW factory fit alloys as an aftermarket accessory is horrendously expensive. The 19” Pretoria alloys on the Golf R are a £1,000 option if specced when the car is ordered. To buy these wheels from the dealer, they cost around £800 each!

The vinyl overlay that @paddy6789 has provided the link to looks like an inexpensive way to achieve the same look. I see they also provide spare replacement vinyl sections as part of the kit so you can replace damaged sections if you are unlucky enough to suffer damage. I don’t know if I’d be skilful enough to fit the vinyl overlays to achieve a professional look though - I’d probably be looking to find someone with vinyl wrapping skills who could fit them for me!

The OEM wheels for the Cupra Ateca which are identical specs to the Cupra R Wheel and look the same to me cost just £270 a wheel.
Just waiting on a quote from a wheel specialist to find out the cost.
The vinyl is a nice idea but I prefer a professional finish so if I can't get them painted for less than £100 a wheel then I'll just buy the Ateca Cupra wheels also made by Ronal.

If your existing alloys are in excellent condition, you could sell them and with the cost of getting them painted, you'd be pretty close to buying the Cupra Ateca alloys. They'd be brand new and what you wanted in the first place.

You’ll be able to order the Ateca wheel but I suspect not the Cupra R wheel. It took me 4 months just to order a spare Cupra R wheel after I curbed one of mine - and it wasn’t cheap! No wheel refurbishment company would touch the wheel due to the colour and SEAT just point blank refused to sell me one. In the end, Progressive Parts threw some legal jargon at SEAT and managed to order one. Some people have been quoted over £2k for a set though.

The only difference between the Ateca and Cupra R wheel is the offset. It’s how the Cupra R has a slightly wider stance compared to a non Cupra R.

I really do like the look of the wheels with the added copper colour - but I'd be frightened to drive the car in case I damaged that copper'd area, stupid but true!

Cupra Ateca wheel is ET45 and I'm happy with that. It's still 5mm more than my standard wheels. They are £270 a wheel as they aren't classed as special edition. I knew the Cupra R Wheel wasn't available to none Cupra R owners but the Cupra Ateca Wheel looks identical so for me ideal.

I like it too and it's makes it a bit unique. As said in a previous post I'm happy to pay up to £100 a wheel so we'll see what I get quoted. If not then it will be the Cupra Ateca wheels with increased insurance.

I actually like the design of the standard Cupra wheel. I'm just trying to make the copper badges look less out of place. The Cupra Ateca wheel has the downside of increased insurance due to the 5mm offset difference. I'll weigh up the costs of both and see which is the best option.
My current wheels are perfect with no marks or damage so can definitely sell them for a decent amount if going for the Ateca wheels.
