I just watched this video on the EDIFF service for the GTI performance pack. I think thats the same as the one in our cars.

Has anyone done this service or asked a garage to do it? I asked my local and they said it was not needed...

Seems dealers don't realise there's a hydraulic diff in the car. My friend had the same issue with his Octavia VRS 230 which also has the VAQ Haldex. His dealer refused to believe that a 2wd car had such a system and ended up having to take it to a VAG specialist to confirm it required servicing. Dealers' knowledge of these cars is worryingly lacking.

Mine was done at the dealers (Fife SEAT) at 4 years (20.000 M) as I had only done 15,000 miles at 3 years.
This is where I'm taking my car after speaking with them. Their knowledge is far superior to Arnold Clark's service team and they have customer relation skills as a bonus. Arnold Clark tried to tell me my car had 310bhp and insisted that a 290bhp didn't exist in MY19, they didn't know about the GPF. Needless to say I won't be using those guys.

Gulp, that is annoying, my older daughter has a 2 or 3 year service plan, and I think that I've got her to confirm that it is a AC's plan not a SEAT plan, so not "portable"! Oh flipping joy!!

Maybe it's just the guy I've been dealing with throughout my wheel issue and the rest of the service team know a bit more. Fingers crossed for you!

I’m actually looking around at the moment for info on getting the service done on my diff and DSG when they need doing. A lot of false info around. Hard to know what the best advice is, I’m not that knowledgable on that sort of thing sadly

Hi guys,

Posted in this thread previously trying to get some info as the servicing for the Cupra diffs is hard to come by.

Just got a quote and wondered if anyone could tell me if the price looks good and wether what’s down will cover the servicing for the diff and also dsg whilst I was at it to satisfy the warranty (that states I must maintain the car as per manufacturer instructions)

Why is the DSG oil so stupidly expensive? £155 for some oil seems rather steep!

Also, does anyone know for sure what the intervals for servicing the DSG and diff are? My manual doesn’t really say much. From reading on here I gather that the diff is every 3 years or 30k miles? And the dsg is every 4 years or 40k miles? Is this correct?

I paid £344 for both a month or two back (although I think this included the excess on the courtesy car). This seems to be about right for main-dealer prices.

Oh that’s good so my quote seems about the same. That price also includes a courtesy car if I need it. It’s not from a main dealer but a very reputable specialist

Hi, just joined, was reading this and having some experience of this job thought I'd make first proper post. I changed the diff oil and cleaned filter strainer myself on my 290 manual at 20k miles. Having had bad experience with main dealers in the past, I don't trust them with basic servicing, let alone something mildly out of the ordinary. The job isn't difficult, just very limited access when you haven't got a workshop lift. If anyone's doing it themselves you'll need the replacement fill/drain plugs and new seal kit for the pump, which needs to come out to clean the strainer. Also an extensive selection of socket extensions/attachments as the pump bolts are in a very awkward place. I was surprised though by the debris on the strainer at 20k, and I don't drive it particularly hard. When I refilled it after draining and taking the pump out I temporarily used the old plug so I could start the car for a few minutes. This primes the pump and you can then top the oil level back up before fitting the new plug. Manual instructions say the oil has to be a above a certain temperature too, 20 degrees I think, not sure why it's so specific but I did it on a hot summers day and figured that would be Ok. Took me quite a while to do the whole job first time but if I still have the car at around 50k, when I plan on doing it next, it'll be much easier. I may be able to dig out the invoice for parts, if anyone wants the numbers.

Well I got a local indi to do it for me, VHub in tewksbury. It cost me 110 pounds which for the peace of mind was well worth it.
