Evening all... I don't have Facebook. But many of you youngsters do... I am going up to this bloke on Sunday and buying the byc wing. But he is breaking the car. I am more than willing to collect any other bits and bring them back down to watford area where I am from.

Separated my shoulder riding BMX a few weeks ago, so haven't been able to drive.

Taken the car on a few runs over the past couple of days and I've got a hard brake pedal and looking at my offside rear disc, it's not clearing the rust, so I'm thinking something is seized.

I'm going to check the fluid tomorrow or sometime to make sure it's not sludgy, but here's the thing - I had that caliper replaced at the start of the year after the car failed its MoT, so I'm really surprised that anything has happened so quickly.

Any thoughts on what I can do before taking it to a garage? Given it's a new caliper, I'm hoping it's a straightforward fix, but am loathe to spend another hundred and fifty pounds on something I replaced in January.

Maybe pads seized on carrier/shims or something stuck in there. Can you jack it up and get wheel off yourself?

The shoulder makes everything slower, but I reckon I can get in to take a look.

I did actually take the wheel off a few weeks back to replace the disc retention screws and am now wondering if I messed up - but given the other wheels are alright, I don't know.

What do you reckon - just take things apart as though I'm replacing the pads?

Strip pads and clean and re aply copper slip. Clean carriers and shims. And wind back the caliper and listen for any crunching and look out for splits on the rubber around the piston. Cast your eye from the calliper right over the brake lines looking for corrotion or bulges. Then pump down peddle a few times before putting the fluid res cap back on. Hope this helps
