No, that would have been typical haha. I have to admit I was worried that they'd fit an alloy with more damage than the one they replaced. Just a £5 plastic cap damaged but I can live with that. Everything else on the car fine too.
Be careful when you replace the centre cap. Either remove the wheel and push the centre cap out from the back of the wheel or drill a small hole in the front of the cap and use a wire hook to pull it out. Put a piece of masking tap on the front of the cap first to stop the drill bit slipping.
If you try prising the centre cap out from the front by using something like a flat bladed screwdriver under the edge of the cap, there’s a good chance you’ll damage the lacquer coating on the diamond cut surface of the wheel around the edge of the centre bore. If so, then that creates the ideal conditions for the onset of white worm corrosion. I’m pretty certain that’s how two of my diamond cut wheels on previous VW suffered white worm - the dealer replaced two of the centre caps (which ironically were suffering from white worm) under warranty, and shortly afterwards, the dreaded white worm appeared around the centre caps.
