Hi, are you looking for an off the shelf remap or a custom remap? Not sure if R-tech do diesels... but they are rated amongst the best. P-Torque over Wombourne is good (did my MK2 Diesel FR+). MidlandVW are a local Revo dealer (did my Stage 1 and 2+).

What makes the Revo map special? As it’s a bit pricier than the other options.

I do like the look of Darksiders. The guy seems very knowledgeable. Quite a way to travel though

This is all I needed... (I don't own a Diesel but if I did) M5 vs SEAT Arosa - 1 minute 50 for the race

I have the same car and am considering a remap. Midland VW in Cannock is the place to go. They do all my servicing, and will be putting a Revo map on mine in the near future. Why Revo? For me, it's a trusted brand with years of R&D and from what I have read, they don't try and go for outright power gains, more a progressive map that wont overstress your car.

Just be careful who you use, just because a car seems to drive well etc doesn't mean the map is good!

When I bought my MK1 daily earlier in the year it came with a "custom" remap done, the previous owner had a local company do it. One of these "specialists" who is mobile.

Decided recently to take the map off the car and have a look at it in WinOLS, stock turbo only capable of flowing 1.7bar max, map requesting 1.9-2.0 bar, SOI stupidly high amongst other things.

Companies like REVO,APR do hours of data logging on dyno's. They arent just looking at max power, torque, they are logging temps etc. I've been guilty in the past of talking bad of Darkside but the truth is they do remap very well and have a professional set up these days.

I've said it many times, an off the shelf remap from REVO/APR etc IMHO will always be better than 99% of "custom" tuners out there. You do get your exceptions like Darkside for Diesel, MRC for Petrol, R-Tech for Petrol etc.

I'm very tempted by a REVO Stage 1 for my 184FR. I have a DTUK CRD-t+ box that I've never installed, but would love to, to see what it's like. I get anxious when I mess with the car, as I think I'll break something! (Yes, I'm a *****!).

.... or I was until I found out that the £399 for a REVO is without VAT. £120 more than an APR Stage 1 map. Does anyone have a preference between the two?

bit of a long way from you, i had my 2017 2.0 FR diesel remapped at AMD tuning at grays essex, excellent results 228 hp and 467nm, the car is very quick, well pleased with it.

I wouldn't based on my previous experience but my experience is from 2010, so not to say the whole company has changed.

JBS (we nick named them Just Bullshit) and Custom Code (Custard Code) are the same company or were at least (maybe somebody can confirm they still are)

I had "Custom Code" on my Ibiza 1.4TDI and it was fine, I then had the JBS Custom Code DPF delete on my PD170 and it was pants, had to take it back several times before eventually ditching Custom Code in favour of Shark Performance.

The JBS rolling road pulls for my car were 168 standard (PD170) and 235 mapped, I took it to 3 other rolling roads after this and could only ever pull 200-205. Another member off here (KIlner) also had the same issue with the JBS rolling road figures. They also wouldn't let you see your own car on the rolling road (because they were fudging the numbers). The main issue was the "PD170 stutter"

99% of their files were "off the shelf" files so "custom" isn't the word they should use, not to say some cars are Custom.

When I switched to Shark on my PD170 I spent around 17 hours at Shark HQ with Mikko the mapper on and off the rolling road and he did push my PD170 as far as they could, final figures were road map 220 and off road map 228 (far too smokey for road use). The JBS file made 202 on sharks RR.

Just checked companies house and one of my old APR Contacts is now the director of Custom Code DOH! haha.

As I said though my experience was from 2010 so probably irrelevant now.

That’s fair enough.
We can only go on what experience we’ve had.

This is my third car mapped by JBS.

They did my mk4 GTI back in 08 and they did stage 1 which they said was a Flash map.

It went back for stage 2 a year later.

The car never failed me and I love the way it drove, still boosting 1 bar at 6k revs.

I had a TT with a BAM engine a year later tuned by More BHP. I only paid £175 so didn’t expect the world but the car drove awful. Full boost came in very low which made the clutch slip and ran out of puff before it hit 5k.

My Leon was stage 1 mapped by JBS in 2013. It was then sold to a mate who has an APR stage 2 map on it. When I bought it back it drove awful in my opinion, full boost really low down and runs out of power at 5.5k revs, get like I was always changing gears in it, It didn’t like to rev etc & just didn’t drive like I wanted it to. Had a stage 2 calibration done by JBS earlier this year and the car is so much different, no different in the figures but feels so much better to drive. They did let me watch but not the whole 4 hours it took lol.

They seem to specialise in most VAG engines and their FB page shows the cars they’ve done.

I can’t comment on whether or not their rollers are accurate but everyone’s will be slightly different.

It sounds like they might be running as a different company these days. The MoreBHP map was it done at their HQ or just flashed elsewhere?

MoreBHP are based near my mums and I've heard good stuff about their live mapping but not so good about the flash stuff their dealers sell.

Currently road mapping my PD150 keep flashing and logging, will get it there eventually.
