Hi guys i am new to the forum and looking for some advice.
I am currently looking at an 04 plate leon cupra r with around 70k on it. Looks clean in general however the front cross member is fairly rusty and so is the rear axle. Wondering if anyone has had any issues similar or if i should stay clear.

My cross member is a lil rusty but going to scrub and repaint it. As for the axle i imagine most of the running gear will have some rust

It could have 200k or 20k thing it's it's still 15 years old. A company called imaxles do the rear axle and front subframe new think they 100 and 130ish easy to replace as well.

I’d agree with that mate, 15 years of our salty roads, that have plenty of steel in them, enjoy it without looking underneath!

Oldish cars with low mileage do tend to have alot of surface rust underneath especially if they have not been kept in a garage as they have spent alot of time sitting around in the elements.

I think I've got a spare subframe lurking around that's in decent nick if of interest.

That im axles post is handy to know, I would have happily paid that out rather than the god damn hassle of replacing the rubbers...worst job I've ever had to do on my car so far.

Really.... I didn't have any trouble. I fitted solid mounts to the front subframe and power flex black to the rear. The both came out and went in easy enough.. But could be because they where new
