New owner, couple of small queries

Hi all, be nice just joined the forum and bought a Leon ST 300.

Quick bit of history - I had an Octavia VRS which I absolutely loved. They made them uglier so I replaced it with a Kodiaq but it was a total mistake, good car but it was slow and never for me. My specs are simple but getting harder to fill - Estate, manual, fast. Even Seat don't make one any more, hence the 6-month old Leon.

I'm loving it so far, great car ticks all the boxes but I do have a couple of minor queries:

Is there any way to hide the mpg on the digital dash? As this is my first petrol for 10 years this is the last thing I want in front of my face all day. I expected the digital dash to be a bit more flexible.

The Sat Nav seems pretty poor - very slow, won't zoom in and out using two fingers properly, and inputting postcodes is a trial. Is this normal? The one in the 2017 Kodiaq was amazing, so I was really dissapointed this didn't have the same system

Appreciate it!

I don't have the digital dash but to enter a postcode first hit the town button, then there is a postcode option. I wouldn't recommend using the car's satnav for anything, you'll quickly find it's pretty useless. Plug your phone in and use google maps instead, with a proper voice search and reliable directions.

I'm with you on the Octavia, particularly the butt ugly headlights and I test drove both before going with the Leon. However, Skoda got the new infotainment system ahead of Seat this time, the screen resolution, processor and software is much improved over the one we have.

You can change what you see under vehicle then settings and display other options rather than mpg. I used the sat nav for the first time the other day and it’s great, nice and easy, post code input using the nice qwerty keyboard on the display

If you married a trophy wife, would you worry about the credit card bills?
Haha no I'm not worried about the petrol bill itself (I only do 5000 miles a year), just don't really want it in my face all the time that I'm doing 20mpg!

Thanks I will give it a go tomorrow.

When I tried the Sat Nav postcode it was awful, its hidden in the town tab and to input you have to keep switching between numbers and letters. Mines 7 months old so perhaps they've now upgraded to the skoda one.

Try the classic view in the vehicle settings, it takes away the centre options in the dials and just shows the full needle for the rev and speedo, like you I have most of the time got a heavy right foot and in Cupra mode so dont really want to be reminded of any sub 20 mpg journeys :scary:

Yep that solved it, I'd been through the menus but missed that screen somehow - that solved it cheers.

Shame about the satnav guess I might have to learn how to use android auto then.

I just leave the satnav in the search mode where it shows you a full keyboard with number keys.

It has found every postcode i have typed in

Don't you just enter the postcode in the search box after clicking new destination? That's how I use it and it has found all postcodes I've ever needed. Also finds POIs this way too. I really like the in built sat nav.

I have to say, the zoom in and out on the sat nav is terrible. As sometimes I like to look where I'm going and what the route is.. I think it's because we are used to responsive smart phones and Ipads etc, the touch screen is very poor compared to them.....

Having said that, that is pretty much the only poor thing about the car.

Enjoy mate

Put the satnav in auto zoom mode.

It pans out for a bigger area view when no directions are required.
Then zooms in when you need a close up of any directions to be taken.
