Something I’ve only just noticed yesterday and don’t know if this is normal.
Went for quite a spirited drive yesterday, mainly to check everything is running ok after I’d broken the connector on my PCV breather and done a temporary repair (new one ordered)
Car ran and felt fine, I popped the bonnet immediately after pulling up and heard the noises in the below video coming from turbo area.
I’m used to hearing the electrical humming noise when car turned on/off for a few moments, but that louder crackling noise is new to me ??

Is this a normal noise to hear after a hard drive or have messed something else up which after the day I had yesterday wouldn’t surprise me :(

note: I have driven hard before and never heard this, but usually the fan is going like the clappers and yesterday it wasn’t, probably cos it was so cold outside !!

Modern turbo engines use electric pumps to cool the turbos down if they're still hot when you switch the engine off, used to be you'd have to stay off boost for a couple of miles and leave the engine idling a couple of minutes before killing it to cool the turbo.

The wonderful days of turbo timers, my Evo VI was a pain as the car would unlock when the turbo timer finally shut off the engine

Yeah I know there’s contracting metal noise that are to be expected in there.

It’s the loud electrical noise I’m enquiring about. ?
I probably didn’t describe it very well in then op but it’s the loudest most noticeable noise in the clip, like an old line printer.
