Had a quick searh in both Exeo and Ibiza MK5 forums but no luck,
Some kind soul forced my passenger mirror in, which now when opperating the open/fold switch only works the drivers side, the passengers mirror moves a fraction and the motor can be heard working,
Ive found out the mirror is removed by undoing a torx screw under the mirror, but what im wondering is where the folding mechanism is, does anyone know if there is a repair kit available and how to stip down the mirror unit to check what parts to replace ( assuming that parts can be found somewhere in the VAG group )

Yes im going to buy a S/H unit from the web, but id rather try to repair the mirror unit than chuck it into the scrap bin

Posted in Exeo and Ibiza MK5 forum as the mirrors are the same just wiring different

Thanx in Advance

Just to check. Does it definitely require repair? I "hope" the mirrors are designed to be moved manually. I left work Wednesday night and my passenger mirror wouldn't fold out. So I moved it manually (to a massive crack). Then it wouldn't fold back up again. So I did that myself too (with another helpful crack). Since then I've folded it up (manually again) and sprayed loads of silicone lube (lithium didn't seem to work so well) down the mechanism whilst the passenger window was open (you can see it from there) and it seems to be working ok again for now.

Dunno how similar Exeo is to the Leon. For a better look, you should be able to use a plastic trim tool and get it as close to the center of the back of the mirror glass as possible and pry it out. Then unclip the cap. That only takes a couple of mins. If you can't see the mechanism then, it's a door card off job.

Hi Legojon, i can hear the motor whiring when the switch is opperated, so im guessing a plastic cog is dammaged ive tried manually adjusting the mirror when the switch is opperated, hoping it would re-engage but no luck, took the cap off today before work and tried to see if any parts were seen moving but no luck, also checking part numbers the mirror cap and glass are the same and going by pics the only differences ive seen are the wiring and the alloy door mount, so im guessing the internals of the mirror are the same but i dont know where or what the folder mechanism looks like in either,
just ordered a S/H unit ,, £42, but when i get chance to strip the door down to fit it i dont know ( long wiring so fit to the control unit in the door)

Same thing happened with mine and had to buy a new one, just 40€ at the junkyard.
