I think for the next rolling round day we should make
a trip of it and go to ABT. I reckon we would all get some unbelievable figures . My APR stage 1 would be putting out at least 500bhp

Guys, this is totally off topic, but I wanted to ask - does DSG map improve 0-100 times or not?
Actually if stock launch control rpm is set around peak torque getting a dsg tune that for example raises the rpm and gets you off max torque will be better for 0-100kph figures. Also if your car produces peak hp near the redline raising the shift points will make the car have a fatter power curve that'll make it faster.

Bit off topic but does anyone know much faster launch control is 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) than a normal launch on a Cupra ST 4drive?

Well all the stats say the non ABT car does it in 4.9.
Mines not ABT anymore but is just APR stage 1 and the best time I’ve managed is.

Wow, fantastic time. :) LC I take it?
Yeh with LC at 3750 rpm launch. The best 0-60mph time I’ve managed is 3.69, I think that extra 2 mph difference is between 2nd and 3rd haha

It depends on which temp sensor they are working from.
I'll order the ABT option on my next Cupra as long as it's under $NZ2k mainly because it carries a SEAT backed warranty. I'm not that keen on other systems unless I can get it custom mapped and that is starting to get expensive.
Besides, our climate doesn't regularly get hot enough to be a serious issue, and it certainly wouldn't in the UK. The only time I can think of is in heavy summer traffic, but you're unlikely to need 340 hp in that.

got to mid 30s in London last year

Just a little update here on my R ST ABT.
I decided against a dyno run this week and put the money towards a dragy.

Did my first ever launch (nearly messed it up, I released at about 2.5k rpm) and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

0-60 4.18sec
1/4 Mile 12.42secs

Definite room for improvement, it’s wet and I’ve got 3rd tank of fuel.

Considering Matt Watson at Carwow got 4.4 and 13.1 in his review I’d say he didn’t have the oil temp up to 90’c for full power !!!

Remember the dyno in question is the TUV one, not the ABT one. with 1,000,000 mph of arctic air from the ground breaking fans they use

:)))))) Yup that’s the one

Re launch control, is it better to have ESC fully off or just in ESC Sport mode ?

Also whilst foot is planted to the floor on brake to engage it, when you then press the accelerator down, at what point do you let off ??

I just let off as soon as my foot got to the floor on accelerator, it was circa 2.5k revs. Should I have let it build up higher ?

You should let it reach the launch control limiter as when it hits that your turbo will still be spooling up, by letting off before your turbo hasn’t had enough chance to reach optimum psi.

ESC off, CUPRA mode, foot to the floor, the LC will limit the revs to optimum to launch and then off brake and you’re away. I have a manual so correct me if wrong lol.

I think it wouldn’t let you go above 4000 rpm. But makes a big difference if you launch it at that.

It will let you do it with just the esc in sport, I didn’t notice any difference in times with it completely off with the ABT kit on.
Then like said gearbox in sport not drive (can be any driving mode). Foot flat to the floor on break foot flat to the floor on throttle. Let the revs build, hold revs for a second or so, so turbos working hard then release the break and off you go :). It will just hold at 4000 rpm if you keep both feet planted
