On my drive to work this morning I noticed a whumping sound (kinda similar to when you drive over painted lines on the road) that increased in frequency with speed. The noise was still there when in neutral and coasting.

Would I be right in thinking drive shaft/CV joint/Wheel bearing and is there any specific test I can do to narrow this down?

Will be phoning the dealer I bought the car from as have 12 months warranty but want to be armed with as much info as possible.

The car is a 2013 1.4TSI DSG

CV joint usually clicks at the extreme ends of each steering lock. You inspected / felt round the tyre to make sure it's not damaged / deformed?

I did pull over and check all 4 tyres and didn't spot anything but it was dark and foggy. Will have another look later tonight to see if I can see anything off with the wheels/tyres

I think I have exactly the same issue ,
Mine only does it dead on 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 if I am going 71 or 69 I can nearly hear it and the faster I go the louder it is.

Had an aligement, new tyres, new tie rods. What could it be ? Its only on the passenger front side
