Hi,

Interesting one this. Had my 2015 Seat Leon X-perience 2.0 184 DSG in for service today at Seat. I wanted the Haldex servicing as it’s a fairly rare model with the four wheel drive.

I went to collect it to be told the Haldex is a sealed unit and whilst there’s a drain plug they said there wasn’t a fill plug.

I challenged this but got nowhere. On coming home had a look under the rear and found what I believe to be the drain and fill plug. Sent the photos off via email to an embarrassed service chap and now waiting contact.

I’d welcome thoughts.

Sums it up really - there’s a drain plug but no fill plug. Sorry but where’s the logic in that? why would you DRAIN something if you can’t FILL it again? Really worrying some of these dealers.

On the old haldex’s (golf mk4 r32 / mk1 audi tt) there was no fill plug just a drain plug. And you filled it from the drain plug with a silicone style tube (you had to be quick when removing the gun and sticking the bolt back in

This is why I avoid main dealers for servicing.

Find a local VAG specialist instead. They are normally much more aware, reliable and quite often cheaper.

My pal went to vw about 10 years ago for a haldex service on his r32, they put the wrong grade of oil in and ended up killing the haldex about 100 miles later  they actually really do not know what they are doing

Different car, but I had the same experience with my Ford Kuga AWD.

I asked Ford about changing the oil and filter, they said it was a sealed for life unit.

Had a look under the car, identified what gen Haldex it was and ordered new oil and filter (all branded Volvo). Got an independent garage to swap it all over, job jobbed.

Had a phone call this morning from a senior manager. He described it as a **** up and they’re going to do the service FOC as a gesture of good will.

Cars in on 4th Feb so hopefully my faith will be restored.

Tell them to remove the Haldex pump and clean the mesh on top of that also!
As there isnt any filter anymore that can be changed, this mesh on top of the pump is collecting all the gunk and finally dont let the oil pass, can kill the pump and/or leave you without four-wheel-drive. This cleanup isnt on the list of the dealer procedures, only oil change is. Added a picture of mine when i was doing the maintenance.
