Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Seat Leon Cupra 280 from 2015 with DSG.

Yesterday I noticed that in first gear there is some whining noise coming from the gearbox I believe.

The noise is more clear when i accelerate slowly between 1k rpm to 2.5k rpm.

I searched in other forums and some people say that it is a normal characteristic of our DSG boxes..some others say the opposite...

Can someone please clarify this?

Thank you in advance!

My 2014 280, has always had the gear whining noise since new, I think it sounds the same noise I had on my 1980 Kawasaki bikes, just a bit quieter as tucked up in the car compared to sitting on the gearbox of the bikes. I like the sound and as my Cupra is now nearer 6 than 5 years old it sounds like it is normal.

Had the whining noise on 1st gear and a bit on 3rd gear on my mk7 gti dsg. Has 90k km on it now and the dsg still has no issues, so i guess it's normal. My cupra 290 makes no noise on 1st gear though.
