225/40/18 is standard tyre size for that wheel. That's what I have and its what seat recommend. Don't use that garage again as they clearly retarded.

They are most likely covering their backs if something was to go wrong after the repair. I know a lot of garages will not touch stretched for this reason.

They may be 10mm stretched (5mm either side) or you have tyres without "rim protection". Either way, any garage should work on them. I used to run 20mm stretched tyres years back with no issues.

One crucial bit of information missing here before anyone blades the garage, how wide are your wheels?
Should be 7.5J with 225. If you have stretched 245 tyres you must have 9J or similar.

Hi bud,y does it look wrong ??

It looks like the tyres are too narrow for the wheels. There is a gap between the inside of the rim and the tyre and the wheel guard on the tyre doesn't even reach the outside of the wheel.

I think the fitter was correct, for once! The tyres are too small for the width of the rims. Lots of people run tyres 'stretched' like that without issue but technically, they should fail the MOT and your insurance could be void because of them.

Hi Mike,

What width are your wheels then?
Must be wider than a standard 7.5J if 225's are stretched. As stated above, should fail an MOT and may invalidate insurance.
Hi bud I don’t no as the wheels was already on the car wen I got it and it passed mot with no problems thanks
