So I’ve bought the correct uprated gas struts and fitted them. Feeling quite proud of myself I duly locked the car and pressed the tailgate button.... nothing happened. Am I missing something

Back when my parents lived on a retirement village complex they built a garage block with up and over doors. They went up so fast you needed the reactions of a gnat to avoid being hit by the door - really useful when used exclusively by pensioners!

I re-lub'd mine recently and it catches my wife out as it now is so easy to lift open, when compared with its previous state, that it reaches the rubber buffers and starts to close - if you are not fully awake!

What it even did once was, I opened it, everything seemed okay but it was quietly and slowly closing again, so the next thing I heard/felt was it closed down the Polo just opened rear hatch onto the back of my head - now that was a bit tricky to separate these two doors without causing any visible damage to the Polo's rear hatch - I'll be keeping an eye on that in the future!

My plan to fit an electric garage door opener is now maybe 5 years behind schedule!
