Vagsport high intake package pros & cons

I have a 2016 Cupra 290 manual, I have fitted a vagsport high flow intake package including turbo muffler delete, silicone intake pipe, high flow turbo elbow and panel filter. It hasn’t made any difference to the sound ? I was expecting something from the muffler delete at least, even just a little more noise that could be heard outside of the engine bay ‍♂️, Lol. Also Hasn't made any noticeable difference to throttle response or pick up ? can anyone explain why, am I expecting too much ? Has it, or can it be fitted incorrectly ? thanks for taking the time to read this.
Steve.

I have had the same setup but I was already stage 1, I only noticed a little more noise from
The turbo one of throttle from boost, but I didn’t want any more turbo noise anyway as I prefer exhaust noise. However I did notice the throttle seems sharper.

I now have an R600 as well and again no change in noise but I prefer it that way.

With all the bits and the R600 my car when it was put back to a factory map was 310hp vs 295hp official stock figures.

I’ve not had any other makes version to be able to comment, but if you want more noise you’ll be better off getting an open intake to go with it.

That’s funny as I have the r600, elbow and silicone hose and have a noticeable induction noise from stock. Mine hasn’t been mapped yet, 280 cupra.

Possibly need to have a check around it and make sure I have installed it right but it seems to be!

Also the difference in acceleration is noticeable, most noticeably when going between third and 4th, it seemed before it would choke out and take a while to build boost again. The R600 jumps straight back to peak boost in a blink. (Manual)

If you want intake noise you need an open air intake.

All them upgrades are really for a tuned car which needs more airflow though, it isn't really going to do anything to a standard car.

Don’t know if it’s me but 2nd doesn’t seem to pull as hard ? What boost should 1st and 2nd be making ? 3rd seems fine and is making just over 2 bar on my digital factory gauge

If you want a little more intake sound you could go for a cone filter.

I think generally when upgrading the turbo inlet and hose you lose a little bit low end torque and gain a little torque in the mid and gain some hp on the top end. It is not a big difference though. I got mine mostly for the intake sound :) (Full MST intake kit).

So basically I haven’t achieved anything that I wanted (more turbo noise) and I’ve made it accelerate slower in the low end ‍♂️ Lol

I’m concerned about a re-map at the mo as being a manual, the extra torque apparently kills my clutch ! The car has only done 20k so didn’t want to be changing that out yet, my missus will slaughter me and I can’t really keep that one a secret lol

Just been on progressive parts to have a look at clutches ! Not much choice and around £600 ?!? Not including fitting ! Is that the going rate or are they just selling the top of the range product for racing etc ? Will have a further look online but so far this theoretical re-map is, £500 from AmD for the remap plus including fitting £800-900 for a clutch ! My oh how things escalate quickly lol !!!!

I’ve had mapped cars on standard clutches for years and unless you drive everywhere like a loon and floor it from low rpm all the tine your clutch will be fine.

You also get maps with limited torque, I’m in a manual and it’s not gunna stop me, if it needs a clutch it needs a clutch. Why have it if you won’t use it.

From what I’ve read though the clutch is just about strong enough for stock in the Cupra. Remapping adds a lot of torque. But like you say you can always go for a low torque map now and change the clutch when it goes.

Slippery slope these upgrades :clown:
It’s nice to see nothing changes, been out of the modding game for a while due to kids etc and now I’ve got myself something tasty again I can’t help looking and wanting more lol, but as usual one thing leads to another. I’m thinking I might take all the VAGSPORT parts off except the panel filter and get back the torque in second gear and wait till I can afford the clutch etc for the rest-map lol
