New cupra been driving it round for last couple of days brilliant car. Only thing I can't work out is no DSG bang at all. Very light burbles when letting off throttle but that's about it. Is this due to the ppf at all?

why do you want bangs and pops? the exhaust sounds very meaty for a 4 cylinder car, that's good enough for me....

I've only had mine for 3 weeks, 550 miles on the clock and it's only just starting to bang, pops have always been there, although a little quiet. Still puts a smile on my face :)

I put 500 miles on mine in two days. Had a few pops on the way in to work this morning. Looking to get some good runs this weeknow that the initial "run in" has been completed.

I bet that cost a bit in fuel lol
It turned up empty so filled it up. £50 ish. another £50 on the way up to Harrogate, and another £50 once i got back. The car is 3/4 full now so yeah. £150 in 2 days stings a bit but i didnt buy this car for it to be a cheap runner.

I did however get 43mpg on my way in to work this morning which is about the same as my last car, a 1.8 tsi FR.

My Cupra was the same when I first got it - after about 4-5k it gets louder. Now I’m on 10k it doesn’t shut up unless in Comfort!

I do think using 99 Ron fuel helps... I’ve not used 95 but have a colleague who only uses 95, and says he doesn’t get much exhaust noise

Your colleague uses 95 RON on a Cupra?:headhurt:Btw, which 99 RON? I know only Tesco Momentum and Shell Vpower, might have heard Momentum a bit louder on the bangs...but can't remember for sure..

Currently at ~5000 miles. Can confirm noticeable difference in exhuast popping between 97 and 99 ron (vpower).

I've only run mine on 99 Vpower since i've bought it, filled up three times. My next fill will be with tesco momentum.

Its on 600 miles now and i've only had pops out of the last 100 or so miles so it won't be any reliable comparison but once he car gets a few mor emiles on it i will be comparing the difference. I have the choice of BP, Shell, Esso, Tesco premium fuels within 10 minutes of my house. I normally use Tesco momentum (118p/L at the moment!!) but put shell in it as when the car turned up i only had just enough fuel to get to the shell garage, also just happned to be where i filled up the other two times.

Bloody hell I need to get to a Tesco. For me the most reliable exhaust pops are on the downshifts in Sport/Cupra with manual gearbox - particularly 3rd to 2nd.

I know... but he says he has it on a 2yr lease so doesn’t see the need in spending the extra money when he’s handing the car back...

for the first 7k or so I was using VPower but I was tempted by Momentum and it was 20p+ a litre cheaper... I think momentum is louder, definitely in downshifts into 4th, 3rd and 2nd. Now I use VPower once every 4th or 5th refuel.
