Hi Guys,
I love my Leon Cupra 300.
But looking on autotrader I have found some good deals on the Audi S5 & mercedes C63, both 2017 roughly 25k miles. The reason I am saying S5 and not RS5 is because the RS5 is out of my budget. C63 is about 6k more than the S5 but RS5 is 16k more! it's easy to tune the S5 to same power as RS5 anyway.

They look to both have similar fuel economy. The S5 is good because AWD and the C63 RWD, can imagine alot more skill involved to drive on the road without going into a ditch! Personally, I think the S5 looks nicer on the inside and will be a more comfortable ride. If they was both the same price and power.. I would prob go with the S5. But it would be amazing to own a V8 at 480bhp, and its 510bhp with the C63s. The S5 with only 350bhp stock but can be mapped to 400 stage 1, 450 stage 2. I need to test drive both of them to see what one really appeals to me.

What do you guys think? I have always loved VAG group and never really been a merc fan.

It’ll be interesting to see how valuations are affected by COVID and lockdown. The anticipation is prices will drop and I would have thought like the recession in 08 the cars with the bigger running costs will take the biggest hit. What sort of age are you considering? If you get a March 17 on any of them it should stop you paying the £475 tax per annum. You might be in for a better deal once lockdown is over especially as dealers will need to turn stock over for cash flow etc

Yeah that's true I did think that. Looking at 2017 models. C63 30-35k and the S5 23-28k.
I have asked for a test drive of the C63 and they said because of no contact they will have to deliver cars to your house for a test drive so that should mean a test drive by yourself! fingers crossed.

Getting an S5 is okay, but you can't just turn that into an RS5 by beefing up the engine's output, they are completely different cars. I have an S4 and I have kept it stock because that is all I want out of it, I'd love an RS4 or RS6 but that is just not going to be part of my plan, just get the S5 and enjoy it for what it is would be my advice.

Edit:- that was not meant in a bad way by the way.

In my opinion, which could be completley wrong having thought about the same change many times is....

The S5 will be a better all round car build and quality wise, stock, I don't think there will be much in the acceleration once you are moving, but I bet it will feel a lot heavier in the bends..

If you got the money for it and are not pushing your budget to much, go for it. If it's gonna put you out, stick with the cupra, I don't think it will be worth the money if it's gonna affect your more important things in life, if it doesn't, it will be worth it.. and that's from a cupra loyal.

I have wanted a Cupra for years and have finally got one. Only had it for 5 months. Got PS4s tyres, resonator delete fitted and was going to get a stage 1 map but then after a long hard think I would like to have a car that ticks all of the boxes and that you can remap and see the benefits all around. As the cars FWD theres going to be alot more wheel hop and spin and you cant improve the launch. I do love my car though, always turning back for a cheeky glance when I park up in Tesco haha. I dont know maybe I'm just being an idiot and just wanting more.

But yeah you are right this car is so light and nimble amazing handling. I can see the S5 feeling heavier, The cupra is actually the faster car so would need a stage 1 on the S5 to actually feel faster. What I like about the S5 is at a stage 1 map 400bhp the launch is 3.8 0-60 that's mental.

If you had to choose, you would pick the S5 over the C63?

ahh this is frustrating.

The Audi would be the cheaper of the 2 to run and definitely to maintain although still twice as much as a Leon

I went from from an 290 cupra to a 68 plate s4, standard form the s4 still egdes it, but the power is usable all the time, interior is a far far better place to be, especially with the virtual cockpit, I've got a dtuk tuning box on mine and it's a beast, far more thirsty than the cupra though, but if u could afford either I'd go c63

I personally would go for the alfa julia 2.9, but that's because I'm an idiot, also I like a car that is less common, hence owning a cupra.

All 3 cars are great mate, it's up to you, test drive them and see what you think !

I'm sure I was talking to you a while back about your car. Looks stunning inside, better than the C class IMO.

These Alfas are pure car porn, pictures of them should be banned!

I wish that Alfa supplied one with enough power and four wheel drive then I'd maybe get one and enjoy having an least 10 trouble free outings in it every year - and try to enjoy all the other outings where I had enough time to admire it broken down at the side on the road waiting to be "collected" and returned to its favourite dealership for repair!
