I've got the Racingline intercooler and it feels good since it's been in. 1 thing to bare in mind is that if you are going to get an aftermarket intercooler than there will have to be quiet a bit of modification to the housing to get it to fit. I speak from experience the garage I had all my work done told me they had to chop away a lot of plastic from the housing to get it to fit.

All the aftermarket intercoolers needs some plastic chipping away. But I have it on good authority it’s minimal with Airtec and Revo, but Racingline and Wagnar do require a fair bit.

I thought the Revo intercooler was the same size as the Racingline intercooler. I don't know about the others.

Core maybe, but doesn't mean the end tanks and mounting method is.
I only say that because I was told by pp that Racingline took there intercooler off the market and copied Revo's design then put it back on sale.

LOL Pretty sure they won't quite of done that. My understanding from PP is that the Revo one performed better than theirs so they brought out a revised version that was better. However as these intercoolers require cutting to fit, and the Revo requires minimal cutting compared to even the new Racingline, so would suggest the end tanks are still different. Anyway we're taking over this guys wanted post so I'll shut up now.

I'm in the market for one, so does anyone know about the APR one? How does it stack up against the others on the market?
Pricing aside, on 2.0tfsi engines it was the holy grail of plug & play. I had one on one of my previous cars, absolutely no cutting and great drop in temps.

Wagner is the best in this platform.
Apparently do88 is best on this platform, better than Wagner.
Not sure on the U.K. availability though, or if it requires same amount of cutting that the Wagner requires.

General consensus seems to be Revo & Airtec require least cutting to fit.
No idea where each of those fit in the performance hierarchy of intercoolers for these cars though.

That's good to know. Personally I'd like max performance with the least amount of cutting if not any.
So by what you all said revo is the best compromise?
Apart from APR is there any other plug & play on the market?
On do88's website there is a nice comparison between that and wagner.
Do we know of any other comparisons or tests?

Yeah that’s the one ^^

It’s the best performing intercooler on mymk7golf.com also, but granted he hasn’t tested a Wagner.

On post #12 you wrote that do88 is better than the Wagner and on post #15 you wrote that the Wagner hasn't been tested.

Have to admit, never heard of them til today, and now looking into this cooler. Wagnar performance but AirTec money is certainly food for thought.

Do88's own site say its better in comparison to Wagnar, and here shows it flows better than all others tested by themselves.:

So its tempting...

...not that I'm personally chasing numbers. I'd be happy with an AirTec, but my friend Graham would kill me.

The word ‘apparently’ obviously escaped you ;)

The Wagner was included in the tests do88 did.

The mygolfmk7 stuff was just included as another reference.

Nice find.
What I'd like to see though is real world performance, so if only we could find some temp logs of these intercoolers.
I found this: http://mygolfmk7.com/mk7-gti-r-intercooler-comparison/ but first of all it's from 2018 and tbh some results don't make sense or I'm not reading the results correctly.

It’s going to be Revo for me, purely because a local tuner supply Revo parts.
Otherwise I’d go Airtec due to the cheaper price, it may not be as good but would I notice, doubt it.

Don’t want the Wagner purely because of the amount of cutting I’ve heard and that puts me off on a relatively new car.

I think the bottom line is that anything is an upgrade over the stock intercooler on this platform.

Many people are also using the Chinese Intercoolers with good results on a Cupra Facebook group.
