shouldn't this thread read Cupra R needs better driver ? ?

A standard Cupra R is faster round a track than Monaro VXR,Porsche Cayenne turbo,mark 5 golf GTI,Cooper s mini,alfa GT V6,

so you are either a driving God or just someone that needs to learn how to drive the car hes already got (no offence)

no offense mate but when u have had a escort rs turbo wit full koni adjustable shocks and custom springs, wi every part of the car polybushed up-rated rollbars and adjustable cambers wit a raised steei rack the lcr seems abit more wobbly to that, and i just need to stiffen everything up

Unless springs and dampers need replacing I wouldn't bother for a while.

Try Neuspeed 28mm rear and 25mm front, Dog bone engine mount, S3 Strut brace first then do the Shocks and springs if needed.

I did a document on my research and findings etc it's about 2mb but you can have a copy if your interested PM me your email

EVO Magazine. .

I have had a fully braced and bushed Integrale and it was shocking to drive on the road.

My LCR was a much nicer place to be for the 80% of the time I was driving "normal" so I could forgive it for being a little soft for the 20% of the time I was "spirited".

If I had another LCR I would perhaps just go with some uprated ARB's so I kept the (relitivly) good ride.

Then again I'm getting on now so my bones don't bend like they used to. .

I can vouch for the S3 brace making a difference. I am going to get some uprated anti roll bars at somepoint.

S3 brace won't stop the chassis flexing tho - I still managed to stress fracture a windscreen out on track!!

And I'll agree with anyone who says the LCR is NOT a great handler!! It's OK, but no-where near as good as it should be!!

Any reason why a spring & shock set-up, and not a coilover set-up??

I wouldnt go for 28/25 bars with std suspension. I can lift a rear wheel 'testing' in car parks at the mo on tight corners which gives slightly unpredictable handling. Seems ok with peeps who have had coilovers tho, so maybe go for 28/25 with 25/23 without?
I'll be getting some proper susp. and tires soon enough tho, dont know how anyone can say the std R dont roll like a git  Seems worse than my old leon tdi!

cupraR-rog im not a fan of the harsh coilovers ride in my m8's a3 and my other mates a3 (both 1.8t's)but my mate had the shock and spring set-up i mention wit up-rated arb's on his s3 and it felt so stiock still ie nice ridebut handled so well (i know its 4wd) ill go for a dog bone mount and s3 upper strut brace aswell as thats only bout £100 for both

standard LCR also lifts a rear wheel during quick cornering--about 4 inches according to someone once following one!!

Yep std suspension can lift a rear tyre too and I would only recommend ARB's only as a stop-gap until you can afford to sort the springs and dampers.

You can do things whichever way round you want, coilovers and no ARB's is a compromise too.

28/25 is what I consider a fast road set up
25/22 (Front being 22 from Golf R32 or similar) would be less extreme.

Neuspeed now do a 32mm Rear ARB too :headhurt: :worship:
