Cupra R Tyres?

Anyone know which tyres are best to fit on the Leon Cupra R 225?

I am getting fed up with replacing the Pirelli PZero Rossos so often. I had Goodyear Eagle F1s on my Pulsar GTi-R and they were amazing but also wore quickly (although the car was notorious for scrubbing front tyres) they had much better wet & dry grip than the Pirellis but it is difficult to compare due to chassis set-up, 4WD vs FWD and power difference between cars.

I have searched all over the place and can't really find a definitive answer!

I guess it is partially personal preference ... but there must be some science to it as well.

Also given that Pirellis are extra load, how does this relate to other manufactures?

I think the majority go with the Goodyear Eagle F1. (GSD3)

I have them and find them superb in my opinion and have outlived the original Pirellis for lastability.

Same here GSD3 anyday of the week.

What ever you use on the front it will eat them in no time.

I have just been looking into the F1s, the GSD3s also come as normal or extra load, presumably extra load are the ones to go for?

They also appear to be cheaper the the Rossos too - better & cheaper, you can't say fairer than that!:D

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's IMO were the best I tried (Pirelli were awfull and Toyo's were OK).....the Goodyears need a little scrubbing in first but then they are really good IMO (Any excuse for switching off the TCS and lighting up the front wheels ;) )

Consider buying them from Mytyres who have a link in the banner top of the page.....this way SCnet benefit too ;)

I've got Dunlop Sport Maxx all round which I find up to the job - took quite a while to scrub in though

Not sure of other peoples opinions on these tyres

Yep just got a set £98 each, another vote for the Goodyear

Bushy

Where did you get them for that price mate as that's very cheap? Also, what size as from what I've seen 225/40's (original fit size) are always cheaper than 225/35 (more common size for GSD3's)?

225/40/18r GSD3.
I haggle for everything it usually works, just say u can get them cheaper from whoever.

Had Pirelli P-Zero's on my LCR, then a set of Bridgestone Potenza S0-3s and now some Goodyear Eagle F1's. But only on the front.

Cost £202 fitted and balanced and the guy came to my house to do it during my lunchbrake. GOt to get the rears done soon.. cant afford it though.

I had Toyo T1R's on my MINI and they where seriously good tyres, brilliant in the wet.. but was advised the F1's where a better tyre.

Go for the Eagle F1's.. you wont regret it... look the business too. I havent found they wear particually badly..

that included the first 1000K miles of gentle driving to bed in the tyres plus it was un modified too- switched to vredestiens straight after- far superior to the perillis in the wet.
