but it can be really useful for controlling boost spikes and generally normalizing boost pressure,,, but I'm thinking of a boost valve and don't know if it's the same thing as a boost controller,,,

i was thinkin if it is possible to increase acceleration and top speed using boost controler and without and modifications to ECU?

so you want this mod to give you more power?

problem is that blowing more air isn't enough, you need to raise the fuel delivery too [unless you're running too rich and adding air can help burn the unburnt fuel but it's not the case if the ecu is stock].

As I see it, boost valves are used to normalize boost delivery, not [usually] for raising boost pressure or to give you extra power.

I'd say do a remap and get the best out of the engine compared to raising only fuel or boost.

limp mode is the protection mode in which the ecu goes if it detects a harmful variation in the boost pressure. i.e., the VNT blades get stuck and the boost pressure goes too high putting the engine at risk,,, the ecu sees this and cuts all the boost to enter a safe operating mode,,,

problem on boost is +0.3bar over requested = limp mode

increasing boost will give you a bit more torque, but you need the xtra fuel for + hp.
is this time and pressure dependant ? what is normal for a 130? I have 30psi spikes and no limp mode, (not bragin'- complainin' ) currently trying to make a boost valve but can't get a good seat:censored:

Nic, on the boostvalve site there's one for the 2.0 liter, maybe you can mail them asking if it's ok to use that on the 1.9 130 comparing boost pressures,,, [both engines use a VNT-17 btw]
