I have a leon fr tdi revo and have noticed the past few days that the power has died off. The kick in the back when flooring it n 3rd n 4th seems less. Is this because of the hot weather, If yes WHY???

Thanks

Heat soak for sure. Standard side mounts can't cool the charged airflow well enough, so you get intake temps of 90 degC+. Intake temps go too high, ECU cuts back on power.

With a decent FMIC bolted to the front, intake temps rarely pop above 40 degC, whatever the ambient temps. :) I've certainly not been suffering at all this past glorious week.

I did have this, major heatsoak, loos of power, wouldn't accelerate past 80ish, then cut out twice,

Replaced small shitty SMIC with a new shiny Forge FMIC,

Intake temps were 95 degrees, Now there less than 40 degrees,

Job done!

yep 12 degrees C and below is the temp I regard as full power
once ambient temp rises above 12 degrees then you need to keep engine temps down to retain as much power for when you might need it..so revs as low as poss and don't use full throttle unless you really need it.

His not decent enough?

He doesn't have an FMIC from what I can tell? If he has a standard side mounted IC, then it definitely is not decent enough, especially to cope with the kind of boost a 190bhp remap gives.

Phill has a TDI 150 - complete with big shiny FMIC (as standard)

That might explain why mine was down on power & torque yesterday at Marlin RR day, only got 160 bhp & 262 lbs torque , and according to REVO should be getting 170 bhp & 290 lbs torque .

I need to come up against another PD150 to convince me mine isn't broken.

Knowing my luck I'll find Mr Sheerin on my travels.

I was very glad to have a SMIC on my home from work the other day. Got stuck behind one of those people who choose to "pootle" in the outside lane, who eventually moved over. The high temperature meant slightly slower acceleration as I put my foot down, and 3 seconds later found myself face-to-face with a police radar gun.

I braked firmly from about 80, and I got away with it. An FMIC would have got me into trouble! :)
