The wiring diagram has the remote control for the keyless entry wired to the same circuit that goes from the central locking pump to each door. That means you should be able to wire your keyless entry system either to the pump, left door or right door, they are all on the same electrical system...

The wires coming from both doors would be the "trigger" to unlock/lock the doors when the key is turned. This would be the wire that I would connect your keyless system to. I've got a wiring diagram somewhere. I'll check it and see which colour wire you should be connecting to. Cheers Paul

It's the same in Australia. My Cupra is worth more for parts to modify a MK1 or 2 Golf. Not even worth using as a trade-in as the dealers don't know what it is and won't touch them.

Where are you? MK2 uses most parts from a MK3 Golf (motor, gearbox, front suspension). Rear end is from a VW Polo.

Front end is all MK3 Golf - motor, gearbox, suspension. Rear end is Polo. Everything is interchangeable so you shouldn't have any problems finding parts. Where in Oz are you? Cheers Paul

How did you go? I've got the same problem with my 98 model and disconnected the horn so it wouldn't upset anyone. I can still start the car if I press the alarm button on the keyfob a few times to turn the alarm off but tracking down the cause is proving to be quite difficult.

Your battery is so flat the central locking isn't working.
