An LED bulb would trigger the Bulb Out Warning Light as the voltage isn't the same.

I think I read somewhere the 1.9TDi hot start problem was related to the Starter Motor having some sort of voltage drop - and replacing the starter motor was the answer.
If the new bulb is LED the voltage it uses won't be expected which triggers the car to warn of bulb failure. Think i read somewhere a resistor may help.

Just put the latest Malaysk ROM on - such an improvement.....Stock radio/music/bluetooth apps colour coded to dash lighting - screensaver showing clock and speedo (speed from GPS), new launcher from lollipop - with speed/radio widgets - you should really give it a go Jay
Have you tried Millers/Forte additive or similar? I've read numerous reports they work but may need repeated use to make sure its cleaned properly. Millers for injectors - Forte for turbo veins/EGR.
From that i've read - sticking turbo veins, sticking egr and maf sensor can cause the issue.
You would still need the facia panel
Also - have you tried changing the 10a blade fuse in the back of the stereo? I would assume that would be first to blow
