  1. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

The car is back and working perfectly. In the end, it was three magnetic reluctor rings on the input shaft. Overall cost was £900 which wasn't as much as I was expecting, I hope this information helps someone in the future! It is nice to have it back :)
  2. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

No idea re cost yet, I will find out when I get it back in a week or two. It would have been a lot cheaper if I had known it wasn’t the mechatronic unit in the first place, hence I thought I better update this thread!
  3. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

It’s the speed sensor rings in the gearbox. VW / Seat amusingly don’t sell any gearbox internals, only a complete gearbox, which is ridiculous for some relatively flimsy bits of metal ? so my mechanic got some off the shelf at a DSG specialist in Preston and they should arrive next week. Once...
  4. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

Ha ha no plans to sell it, far too good a car. I wouldn’t object to it costing me slightly less money next year though :)
  5. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

Thanks, I will email the mapper and ask him!
  6. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

The fault codes were P0732 and P2711, so generic codes; there was also the loss of reverse error message on the dash. Yes, it has been remapped, but that was about four years ago at a guess and it’s been faultless since, so I presume it can’t be that? I thought it wasn’t quite as smooth since...
  7. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

Right. Sent the mechatronic unit off to ECU testing and... its in perfect working order. They tested all the components and stuck it in their simulation rig and all is good. We are now a bit stuck, where on earth do we go from here? Any thoughts? Thanks :)
  8. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

Thanks. I’m guessing it’s a mechatronic failure, so hopefully I will just be able to replace that! The garage should be checking it over early next week and I will take it from there :)
  9. Cupra 280 DSG Gearbox fault / failure

I think my car is trying to tell me something  following on from having to replace my turbo a few weeks ago (my wallet is still sweating after that), I was driving along the motorway on the way to work this morning and my DSG box failed. It came up with the message reverse has failed / not...
  10. Cupra 280 turbo failure - what's the current go to turbo?

I am guessing the root cause is that it was one of the early turbos that had issues. It has always been warmed up and cooled down, without exception. I have done lots of trackdays so it has been used “properly” and I do drive fairly briskly on track. :) Everything else has been carefully checked...
  11. Cupra 280 turbo failure - what's the current go to turbo?

Thanks, just before I got your reply I ordered one for next day delivery from a race and rally company in Uxbridge. Hopefully should be back on the road early next week!
  12. Cupra 280 turbo failure - what's the current go to turbo?

I presumed that if I went a bit further in future then a downpipe and intercooler would be a minimum...
  13. Cupra 280 turbo failure - what's the current go to turbo?

Thanks, thinking about it, it would be nice to have a little headroom, so an IS38 hybrid of some sort?
  14. Cupra 280 turbo failure - what's the current go to turbo?

Hi all, Unfortunately the turbo on my 2014 Cupra 280 went pop earlier in the week, its been running stage 1 for probably three or four years. Any thoughts on the best replacement? I doubt I will take it beyond stage 1 although I may be tempted with a hybrid turbo... any suggestions re...
  15. Cupra - 2014 faulty turbo

My turbo went pop earlier this week. 2014 280 with Stage 1 (its been running stage 1 for 3 or 4 years?), 44k and always warmed up and cooled down.
  16. VAQ LSD Servicing

Sounds right to me, I recently rang lots of garages to get quotes for the same job and most were a bit dearer than that. I finally booked in with a Skoda main dealer for next week because a. They sounded like they knew exactly what they were doing (and knew the correct intervals without...
  17. Remap in the midlands

Will at P-Torque :) I have tested his maps extensively on track and they are faultless. Look at my YouTube vids ( SteA200sx ) if you want to see what they are like; early vids just had a basic stage 1, later vids had the DSG remap and full stage 1. He’s mapped lots of my other cars too, all used...
  18. Video reviews of Cupra 290 2019

Definitely, these are awesome cars. A little flippant, but buy decent tyres? :)
  19. Brake Advice

As above, the RSL29 pads plus brake ducts and fluid are excellent on a 280 with 380 bhp, you will likely need to spend money on cooling the engine / oil before the brakes become a big worry. They last well too; I could easily destroy something like a DS2500 in a trackday or two whereas these...
  20. Anyone else had the P00B7 Coolant Code - Cupra 280

Yes, it’s my local village garage, parts were a significant part of the bill.
