I used to have that problem with a signam I had cheap aftermarket bulbs always put a failed bulb light up.poor quality filament wire affects wattage reads as failed
Hi you can try lowering both windows together and trying to go past down for a couple of seconds then both up together again tying to go past up for a couple of seconds to syn them.vaseline on the inside of the guides may also help ,worth a try
have you done a cranking test tommy.as said multimeter across terminals while some one cranks engine cold it must have 9volts plus while cranking,check cranking power on battery label against what is required in your handbook ,

don't dismiss the battery just because it's new,put a multimeter across battery terminals and try cranking engine battery power should not go below 9 volts whilst cranking if it does you won't start a diesel in cold weather.the other option may be a lazy starter motor they get full of...
i agree jabtas people still remark about the good design of rear door handles and front grill of my Mk 2,but as drewcole states it,s most likley down to cost affective

I have only replaced the n/s electric operated unit.you do remove the bass speaker but there is a lot more work involved,door inner trim,loosen door handle ,uncouple window and tape in up position ect.it's a fair old job.
