Hi Guys
It's been a while since my last post, maybe 7 years or more! Any way I have just got my hands on an Exeo ST 2.0 TDI and I have noticed that it doesnt get up to what I would call operating temperature (90 degrees) on a journey of 20 miles so presume something is amiss.
First thought was...
For anyone who comes across this thread in the future it was the MAF that had failed. After posting my first post the car almost totally died and wouldn't rev beyond 2000rpm. I unplugged the original MAF and got the full rev range back with reduced boost.
Fitted a new MAF a couple of days later...
Hi Guys, wonder if you could help me
I have a Toledo TDi 110 (ASV engine code) and after driving through the heavy rain last week it has developed a hesitation which grows worse the longer the car has been running. Its like the car has gone in to limp mode but if you keep your foot down and...
Hi Guys
Got a mk3 Ibiza 1.4 and it suddenly died while running today refusing to restart with no spark at the plugs. Ran a code reader on it and nothing comes up. Now I know the MK2 ECU is a dumb as a post so guess the mk3 might be the same....
Tried the spare key to rule out immobiliser (does...
Thing to consider with removing the EGR is that you also remove the anti-shudder valve which also prevents engine runaway incase of turbo failure.
It doesnt happen often but it can, basically when the turbo oil seals give way it fills the intake and the engine essentially runs on its own oil...
Yeah you could do it like that I guess, I binned the pipe and blanked both ends.
Hahaha bit old for skate parks at 31! My TDI is a bruised and abused red Toledo TDI.
Ah so its under the gear stick that its gone? Usually the bracket that snaps is where the cables go to the top of the gearbox.
Have you been able to get right under and assess what the cause of the failure is? You might also be able to see by lifting the leather gear stick surround up.
New...
Yeah its still going well at the moment, found that not using supermarket (tesco) diesel is a big help too! If you remove the flexible air intake pipe that goes between the airbox and solid intake pipe you should be able to get at the other end of the EGR pipe. Its mounted on the exhaust...
Same linkage as the 2.0 16v so yeah it'll be a fairly cheap job, depending on which bit is broken you may need to realign the cables too.
When mine went I was left with 1st, 3rd and 5th, drove it round for a few weeks like that :D
Yes, 5mm between the N75 and the inline reducer, then 4mm from the reducer down to the actuator.
If you're replacing with silicone hoses you should be able to do the whole line with 3.5-4mm as it stretches easier than the cotton braided stuff.
I'd actually really like to learn how to do that, rebuilding a turbo doest daunt me as much as getting the damn thing off the actual car!
Not much space between the engine and bulkhead to work in
It may be a coincidence but I think it was probably a combination of the two as foaming oven cleaner and manipulating the actuator only lasted a couple of months before more problems.
All I know is that for two days I have been driving the car with a huge grin as its going the best it ever...
Had issues with my 1.9 TDI underboosting, overboosting and generally being a pain in the ass for a while. Symptoms were going into limp mode up and down hill under hard acceleration, I'd tried Revive Turbo Cleaner, Valvoline Turbo cleaner and Mr Muscle so thought my turbo must be clean and got...
I may be reading this wrong but if the vacuum pipe is frayed it will still cause issues even if the egr has been blanked off the vacuum pipe is still part of the system and needs to be sealed.
Yes you need to terminate the connection so there is still a sealed vacuum. There's a T joint on...
Yeah I toyed with replacing them all with silicone but wondered with them passing over the inlet and exhaust manifolds whether they would take the heat, so make sure you get the high temp resistance stuff. The widths vary over the lengths of pipe work, 5mm at the N75, 3mm at the turbo actuator...
Well I guess if they are being forced by law then you cant really blame the manufacturers, however VW have been doing this for years and all it does is congeal over all the moving parts in the inlet affecting performance. I'm not sure much of it gets back into the cylinders as it just fills the...
My EGR is blanked but it could still be an issue, for the reasons you've mentioned the system is caked in muck. Why VW vent the crankcase back into the inlet system is beyond me!
Rain stopped play with it this weekend, so hopefully next one it will be nice enough to have a day with the...
