the 1.8t is a decent block and should do high mileage but like anything it depends on how its been treated.
If its been modded on the cheap then stay away but if standard with a full history then should be a good buy (although wont be easy to sell on if mileage too high).
Another Door seal, now done them all and hopefully watertight again....
Next up discs and pads, old ones are looking pretty nasty so looking forward to the shiny new ones being on.
Calipers could do with re-painting too but looks to be a ball-ache to do without removing completely off car...
5W40 Quantum Platinum fully synth - same stuff it comes out of the factory with and not too badly priced.
Others may be able to confirm but i believe it is made by Castrol and is cheaper than the flashy packaged castrol own oils.
Thanks, I have already sorted the Ecu to be sent for repair via my local VAG specialist but will contact r-tech once I get it back as I am looking at a stage 1 map (car is stock at mo)
The LCR has been scanned again by another VAG specialist and the error codes show up but as software related so it does seem to be the Ecu.
I am getting it sent away to be inspected/repaired if poss.
Thanks for help guys
Ben
My local Independent Vag specialist reckon it's the Ecu due to the problem being intermittent and the temp gauge rarely working. It has never gone into limp mode or had issues on longer drives other than non-working temp gauge.
They have suggested due to the AMK engine it is diff to find a...
Hi Gaz,
16514 - O2 sensor malfunction
17704 - cooling system malfunction
The temp gauge on dash only works occasionally.
When start in morning it's fine but when get out of car 10 mins later then back in after 5 more it can idle at 2k and become jerky changing gear, feeing underpowered for a...
Hi all,
Does anyone know if you can replace an AMK Ecu with a BAM version (immob deleted or coded)?
Will it cause any issues due to the differences as I have heard here may be an extra turbo sensor on BAM wiring?
AMK Ecus are harder to find.
My AMK LCR is suffering from gremlins, it has...
Thanks for your help
I have a very early AMK engine.
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe it does not have the EGT sensor that is present on later AMK and all BAM cars.
Does that mean that a BAM ECU will throw up a fault code due to not being able to find the EGT?
My local garage are a vw specialist and suggested a new oem ecu is about £1k.
Do you know if the used ebay ecus can be recoded for immobiliser etc?
The garage said I need an exact part number (amk plus year of manufacture I think) so they can clone my ecu across...
Think I will look for...
Hi Gaz,
Thanks for your suggestions.
The engine idle is defo not to do with cold. I can start up in the morning perfectly fine, drive for 10 mins (nursery run) and there will be no issues. Then when i get back in the car 5-10 mins later it will rev to 12-1300 at idle from start, it then drops...
Wild Willy, thanks for your suggestion.
Is your ECU an AMK version as i am led to believe they are different to the BAM ECU? (I may be wrong)
How much are you asking for it?
Hi all,
My 2002 LCR is experiencing a few niggles and my local Indi VAG specialist thinks I need a new ECU but can't be sure..
It drives perfectly fine and pulls like a train, the main probs are as follows:
Engine sometimes idles at 1200 revs for 30 secs after start
Temperature gauge...
