  1. Advice on abandoned car on my drive

Years ago myself and 3 other colleagues came out of college to find our cars blocked in by a car (Granada) parked across the back of us. We looked round and could see no one looking so we bounced the car sufficiently to get our cars out. We then bounced the car back so it was occupying 3 parking...
  2. FR Remap, insurance costs?

Aviva wanted about £35 extra for Revo or Supachips map on a 1200 TSi 110 when I enquired recently. But that was the difference for a phone quote. An on-line Aviva quote for an unmodified car was £50 lower than the phone quote but there was nowhere on the modifications area of the website to put...
  3. Cambelt Replacement - Leon 184 FR 2.0L

I bought my 1400 TSi in 2013 and after a year decided to ask when the cam belt needed changing, idiot dealer said 30,000 miles or 3 years. Thought this was stupid since they would never sell as asingle car to a fleet if this was true. So I emailed Seat Customer Services who came abck with the...
  4. LED Headlights - Anyone had one fail ?

Does not say its free does it.
  5. To dealer or not...

Never been able to get updates done at any garage other than at a brands dealer. Independants just do not have the capability to do this, in truth very few btand specialists have the necessary kit either. You need more than a laptop and a cable.
  6. Initial service

Last new car I had that needed a service after 600, 1000 or 1500 miles was a 1980 Ford Escort. Every new car since then has been first service at the normal interval.
  7. Saying hello

Picked up the Superb yesterday and have to say I am very happy. Drove it for a fair few miles and even though its huge it drives in a very similar way to the Leon (until you reverse into a parking space - but it has a fancy display on the dash to help). MPG was showing almost 48 when we got home...
  8. air intakes, are they worth it?

I had a K & N panel filter in a car some years ago. Did not do it for the sound or performance (neither of which changed) but because it was far more cost effective than replacing the factory one every 20,000 miles. I did 113,000 miles in that car and saved a decent amount.
  9. Boot illumination

Think yourselves lucky. When I bought mine in 2013 the Tech Pack was a £2000 option and included (please correct me if I have missed something) LED headlights and Sat Nav. Did not consider it for a second. A couple of months later I spotted it had dropped to £500 and then a short time after...
  10. Saying hello

Well I have gone and sorted it. Went to see Mr Skoda yesterday. The garage was dead, I think the salesman was glad to see someone, got his undivided attention. Tried an Octavia estate with the 1.4 TSi 150 in SE trim. Nice car to sit in but once on the move it was bloody awful, the road noise...
  11. Saying hello

Appreciate that but the VED on existing cars has never been subject to major overalls in any previous budgets. The RFL used to go up year on year until the mid 2000's.
  12. Saying hello

Appreciate that but its the annoyance of paying more. I have had a £30 a year car since 2008, the wife had a £30 a year car from 2010 to 2015 and £0 a year car since. Under the current system we would have paid an extra £2040. That to me is quite a bit of cash. An electric with £0 tax...
  13. Saying hello

Looked on Honest John Real MPG (only place I trust to get realistic figures) before and their figures for the 3 engines in the ST are 125 45.6, 140 44.6 and 150ACT 45.1. So sod all difference. Considering I have been averaging 45 from the 1.4 140 PS for almost 5 years I think I can assume fuel...
  14. Saying hello

Been back on the brokers sites this morning with some interesting results. Only used Carfile (wifes car came from there but they don't do Seats) and Drive the Deal (excellent reviews here and elsewhere) because both do no risk pay us nothing business. DtD want £16335 for a 1.4 TSi 125 FR in...
  15. Cupra Mud Flaps ?

I spotted that issue when I fitted mudflaps (front only) to my hatch in 2013, all but useless. So after some research I fitted these halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/exterior-protection/halfords-universal-mudflaps A bit more of a faff than genuine ones but provided you do it on a nice...
  16. 1.4 TSI 125 remap

They can claim what they like. But the only way to know is to get it on an independent rolling road before and after.
  17. 1.4 ACT Warming up

This is my 5th winter in the 1.4 non ACT and like all cars it takes longer to warm up that in summer. Even when the gauge shows normal its still blows luke warm for a while. perfectly normal.
  18. Saying hello

Pasted from the DtD website "Please note there is an additional £1,000 discount available for LOYAL SEAT customers. If you would like to take advantage of the above offer please request this at point of order." From that it appears to me its the dealer that gives this additional discount...
  19. Saying hello

Been doing some surfing today and it looks like the best value is going to be another Leon and just accepting the sports seats, suspension and 17" wheels. The Octavia estate is about £2000 more that the Leon if there is really £1000 off for existing Seat owners but the gap closes to virtually...
  20. Saying hello

No need to laugh, makes walking out much more pleasurable. Bristol Street sales were morons in 2013. I had a price to change in my head and was hopeful since they had the exact car we wanted in stock and actually used it to take us a test drive. But they were £1000 out on their first offer...
