In the end it needed a new sump and oil sensor which is mounted quite low in the sump and had also taken a direct hit.
The only bonus is that it's now also got new oil and filter too.
That bollard cost me £320 although my mechanic reckoned it could have been a lot worse and I was quite lucky to...
While maneuvering out of a tight parking space at the local Tesco Express I managed to find a damaged and low bollard that punctured the sump on my Leon FR 1.8 DSG. At the time I only thought the damage was to the lip of the bumper however on the short journey to my destination the engine...
The front DRL's may be on but are your rear lights?
I was uncomfortable driving around in pretty dark conditions yesterday waiting for the headlights to come on while all around me already had theirs on.
After a bit of experimenting around yesterday I finally found a location for the sensor that restricts enough of the available light to make it actuate the headlights at the right level of light outside. It's still very discrete, especially when the door is closed and a bonus is that there is no...
I've just fitted my auto headlight switch today and everything seems to be working okay, apart from the sensitivity. I was driving home this afternoon when everyone else had their headlights on, and I would normally too, but the headlights refused to come on. I therefore manually switched them...
Keep getting this message on my MY64 Leon 1.8FR DSG ST. It is only there for a second and then disappears. The car is running absolutely fine apart from some horrible creaking/groaning noises from the front and rear suspension. These will get looked at during this week's MOT.
Looking on various...
Did a total reset of the Bluetooth connectivity between the car and phone today and the problem is still the same.
I also experimented with making calls with the phone in various positions within the car. The only place where the sound is clear without distortion is with the phone sat centrally...
Afraid I don't have any other Bluetooth equipment available to use. One thing I'll do is try my wife's Samsung phone (mine is a Nokia 5) and see if that is any better (or worse).
My experiment so far suggests it's a range problem although it's not very far away from the dash/radio which rather...
I'm having some minor problem when using the Bluetooth on my MY64 Leon FR.
Everything works fine apart from the sound quality when listening to the other person. Both the initial ringing sound and then the speech breaks up quite badly. Normally my phone is either on the passenger seat or in the...
Resurrecting the thread yet again.
The rear suspension was sorted by having new shock absorbers and top mounts fitted.
However. I'm now getting creaking noises from the front end too.
Seriously getting fed up with a car that has only done 25k and is 3 1/2 years old.
There I was thinking that the car's brain was malfunctioning when in reality I should be more concerned with my own!!!!
You're right. I was convinced those displays were in the Vehicle Status whereas they're in the Driving Data along with MPG etc.
Sorry for the confusion and problem now solved.
I can't remember everything it displayed but two were Water Temp and Oil temp. Hence why I was wanting to see the water temp after the coolant warning message appeared.
It's strange that I can't find any mention of the various functions available in the FIS in the owner manual.
Thanks for the reply Scott.
The other display options are all available (Driving data, Nav etc, etc) and working fine. I particularly wanted to access the Vehicle Status today though after the Coolant warning as I was curious to check the water temperature.
It seems odd that the system did work...
I've had my 64MY 1.8 FR Leon for a few months and I've always been able to access the Vehicle Status menu to see various readings on the car.
Today while driving along I thought I'd try and use the function and it just displays 'No Entries Available'
Also while out today the car suddenly ping'd...
Thanks for the replies.
There seem to be quite a few used ones available on ebay so the cost of the unit isn't too much of a problem, especially as I could then sell my own to recoup some of the cost.
the problem, as always will be to get the car and the sat nav to successfully communicate with...
