Hi there I have a mk1 1.4 and recently had to takeout the obd2 port, accidently broke off a wire from the pin. Fixed the wire but for the love of God I can't remember what slot this pin goes to know. Anyone have any ideas?

I managed to unlatch it. My problem was that the cable had come out of place and was no longer pulling the release lever. So I had to get under the car behind the radiator and try and find the lever with my hand. Got it after about 15 minutes of fiddling around. I will still clean the catch...

Would the build up of crap also explain not locking fully unless pressed down really hard? As I had that problem just before this happened. What part of the mechanism do I need to push with the screwdriver? Is it the one that the spring is latched onto? Here's a picture to help.

Okay, I have found out that while I was away the seal on the drivers door was poor, and water had got in. My floor mat is still wet to this point, so I'm guessing this is probably the cause of it. Are there any earth cables near the driver side that I should check, or anything else?
