  1. Next alternative car to a Leon?

Never purchased a car new, so will be looking at a used EV. I don't think it'll be too far away before I start actively looking.
  2. Another FR ride quality thread

Definitely prefer the look of the 18's on yours over the 17's on mine. That said, I only drove 2 (the one I bought and very briefly one other) and both were on 17's so not sure how different the drive is on the 18's. I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym's on mine on the front (same as I ran on...
  3. Radio has a mind of it’s own.

Mine did this last winter also (my first winter with the car). From spring and up until now it's not played up at all - but I expect the gremlin to return soon. Quite annoying when it decides to randomly skip through a few radio stations and then decides to store a random one over the top of...
  4. Clutch pedal dropped to the floor - Help

Had this happen on mine (64-plate 1.4 FR) not long after I'd bought it. It was the Master Cylinder in my case.
  5. Cam belt and Water pump

To be honest, I didn't ask. They said it didn't need to be done with the cam belt and that there was nothing wrong with what was already fitted, so I left it there.
  6. Cam belt and Water pump

I was in the same position in the summer (1.4 FR). Booked to have the cam belt done and had assumed the water pump would need doing also - so requested that too. They contacted me after the job to say that they didn't need to do the water pump and that it was on the other side.
  7. Hags Leon FR 2.0 TDI 230ps DSG

Have to say, of all the FR's I've seen yours is the one I like the look of the most - it's an absolutely fantastic looking example. I've only had mine a year. I've resisted modifying my last 2 cars as I spent a small fortune on the 2 previous. So far I've not touched the FR either, however if...
  8. Cupra to 1.4 EcoTSI.. regret?

Based on what you are currently driving, if my experience is anything to go by then yes you will miss the power. I have the 150hp engine and have come from a number of quick cars over the past 20+ years before deciding to "get sensible". My previous cars were 320hp Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, a near...
  9. Car Cleaning Products

Thanks for that info. I was just about to order some from Amazon so have taken advantage of the above. Be interesting to see how these compare to the Meguiar's hybrid Ceramic products I've been using. Now all I need to do is get the scratches repaired that the some delightful children put...
  10. Mib 1 map updates (MY15 Leon)

No, not yet. My map is older still than yours. When requiring nav I've been using a combination of the in-built out of date unit along with google maps or waze on my phone. If the route I'm following has changed then I rely on my phone map until such time as the car map is correct again...
  11. Mib 1 map updates (MY15 Leon)

Wow, you got quoted even higher than I did. I enquired a few weeks ago and was quoted £135.
  12. Updating the inbuilt Mib2 Satnav / Mib2 tricks and Mib1

I agree - I think it's an outrageous amount for someone to pay if they wanted to update annually. I'd been contemplating buying it as a one-off knowing that it was far more up-to-date than what I already have - and sticking with it for a number of years. However, with other sources being...
  13. Updating the inbuilt Mib2 Satnav / Mib2 tricks and Mib1

I got a quote this week from my nearest SEAT Dealer stating that a new SD Nav card would be just over £135. Likewise my card is old (V5) and ideally I'd like to utilise the in-car unit, however I don't know that I can justify that when I can just use Waze or Google Maps from my phone.
  14. When to change timing belt.

Looking at the bill, with labour and parts it works out at about £321 before VAT and £385 with VAT.
  15. When to change timing belt.

Just had a call from the garage doing mine who advised that, as per the comments above, they didn't need to do the water pump, so saved me a few quid.
  16. When to change timing belt.

Funnily enough, mine is having the cambelt and water pump done today (also a 1.4 FR) - by a local specialist rather than the nearest Dealer (which is about 20 miles away and in the middle of nowhere). Mine is between 5 and 6 years old now (64-plate). It's going to be expensive as while it's...
  17. Cupra Performance

Totally agree. There is always something "faster" (be that the ability of the other driver or the car they're in or just something more suitable to the conditions), so as long as you get enjoyment from what you have then it doesn't matter.
  18. 1.5TSI EVO Tuning

I keep contemplating one of these for my 1.4 FR. I have the 150hp version but have come from a line of very quick to mildly quick cars so the Leon feels very sedate. Sometimes it feels like it has some urgency to it, other times it just feels like it doesn't perform at all (it certainly runs...
  19. Leon freeze screen

My 64-plate on colder days will randomly choose to change radio stations. Sometimes it changes to 1 and stays on it, other times it goes through a few before it settles on one. It's very odd. After it's "warmed up" and I change it back to the one I originally wanted - it's fine.
  20. Wheel arch plastic and underbody plastics

Finally got this sorted (got the parts from ebay and had to store them for a short while until I could get it done). Much better now it doesn't have bits hanging underneath !
