Hi - I’m experiencing exactly the same issue with a 2011 Alhambra that I purchased recently. I may be wrong but I think the struts are driven by an electric motor in the tailgate and a flexible telescopic worm drive rather than by using gas dampers. The whole thing is managed by a control unit...
