I took the inner card off. I couldn't get the whole surround off. A bit fiddly but the secret is to disconnect the door handle. Took an hour to get it apart and 5 minutes to reassemble. Not difficult but good luck.

Thanks for the add to this site. Much appreciated. I've just purchased a 2007 Altea XL diesel and my question is that there appears to be no Haynes manual for this model so will a Leon manual be suffice for the majority of the car? :shrug:
