Did you ever find out what the problem was? I noticed with mine on boost (in second and thrid especially) i get this high pitch noise on full boost and im slightly loosing a bit of boost.

Depends on the mood of the policeman. I ran them for 3 years before meeting a copper who decided to be an arsehole about it.

Still going strong after nearly 7 yrs of ownership. There's a website called howmanyleft and when I checked it was something like 58 left but I think it also included the mk4 as well

I bought a set of 4. It was cool pack 4 in the end that died. All sorted now tho. Car had been on a dyno all day so guess old coil packs under heavy load and all that. Still that's only the second coil pack to go wrong in 7 years of ownership

Are places like Euro Car Parts/ Camberley Auto Factors & GSF ok for Coilpacks? As in they are ok to fit to the car or would you avoid? Also, when phoning VW what coil packs do you ask for ? Tried SEAT but they cant get till tommorow.

I had a custom turbo back full system made up by mij performance, it pops and bangs and roars when u boot it. Popping is just unburnt fuel exploding, nothing to worry bout. Mine is on a 1.8t so don't know if u would get same sound from mk5 engine tho

400 is enough to buy one and refurb it easily, they always come up on flea bay

Supposed to perform better due to colder air. I didn't notice any performance gains but did notice more noise

eBay is cheap for genuines, I got mine from there and then sent off for refurb and it came back just like new, spotless.

This is the best looking mk3 IMO. It's original and styling spot on. Wheels look sick in orange, ride height looks great and the bumper and fmic just make it look evil. I love this thing

I just checked now and your right its 18.5mm I dont know why i didnt even think of checking there first. Would os saved me a headache for sure
