No problem :) a few years old now but still applies !!
Good luck on the DIY service !
The filter should come with replacement o-rings .. We talking fuel or oil filter here ?
Either way both should have replacement rubber washers

Could put some NEW diesel in the filter if you wanted but it would get refilled on ignition (keep a little throttle to give it a chance to fill anyway).
You don't want to clean it out and fill it back up with dirt again :)
It's a good idea to just drain, not replace the fuel filter every...
You're right, the oil is/was the expensive bit, but I found and made a killing of a great offer on the eurocarparts website and it was like 50% off everything! Hence it was less than £50 smackers hehe - their fully synthetic triple qx oils are pretty good too, that can knock it down a little...
That's a pleasure, its much easier than you think !!
The only really messy and slightly longer process is the oil change. All the rest can be done rather quickly!
I might be servicing that car again in the coming months as my parents are badgering me to sort it for them, perks of being the...
Hey Zenith, I think its in a different place!!
Asked a friend and he said to check here,
Lift up the bonnet, at the bottom of the windscreen area that would be under that back/front (however way you want to think about it) area of the bonnet, like where the bonnet hinges are. Maybe an area on...
Hmm I believe its the same - what year Leon do you have?
When I'm next back at my parents I'll steal the car keys and snap some photos on the mobile for you :)
Once you take off the plastic cover with the torx screws. There should be like to slides on the outside edges that push into the...
I cleaned out the fuel filter in this car (my old one) a few months back - took no longer than 20 mins !
All I had was,
-Handful of tissues & rags
-An old/empty ice cream container !
-Pliers
If you're changing it competely you will need the same plus,
-Small flat head screwdriver (to pry off...
Regards the fuel filter, I originally ordered one from ECP and it was the short one without the drainer at the bottom. I decided to send that back and just pickup an OEM part from SEAT which was the taller one with a drainer. I doubt it makes much difference but for the sake of a few quid, i...
haha Strawp that's fantastic ! Glad the guide has helped you !
Changing the fuel filter is super easy, if not the easiest part :) - The MAF sensor takes allot longer but then you don't really need to do this that often.
Next time though, try to include some damage control, we dont want you...
Hi Strawp,
I don't have the car any more, it belongs to my parents but I still do the servicing for it when time is available :)
It sure as hell doesn't hurt to do all of those tasks every 10k/annually but may be unnecessary for some bits.
I can't remember the 'official' service jobs at...
Hi there
Apologies for the downtime of the photos, had some website issues ! Can't quite believe its still here :)
Just serviced that car again (parents have it now) and its all set for another year ! A nice full service for less that £50 !
Hope the guide still helps people save some...
Good stuff :) Glad it helped, if I remember correct there were air flow marks on the casing/chassis for the filter?
It's been awhile and coming up time I need to do it again!
Cheers

Thanks for the updates 'GazGT' and 'Wash It', I shall add them into the original post so people don't have to read all the way through :)
No worries, saved me loads :)
