    PD100 Fuel Economy - A positive thread!!

I miss the economy of my PD100 Sport :(. I think it averaged 53mpg over 30,000 miles!

    PD100sport/PD130sport/ PD130 FR

I get 500miles+ to each tank, maybe it drops to 450 if I'm *really* giving it some!! I think the last fill up was £47.50 (but I had driven for 20 miles with the trip computer showing 0miles remaining) - I put in 44.something litres, so the tank was pretty empty!! Only changing as I fancy...

    PD100sport/PD130sport/ PD130 FR

My PD100 has averaged 53 to 55mpg ish throughout 13 months and 28000 miles. Long term average is 53.5mpg (and I went and checked that just for you! :p) over the past 4000 miles. 70mph is 2200rpm. I averaged 51mpg yesterday when I drove from home to Wrexham to Reading and back home again -...

"Arty Farty" shots of my restored LCR

How do you do the multi-exposure shot on the ramps? I've only got a compact cam but I'm quite intruiged to see if I can do that with it?

    Buying a desil

The last one is a PD100 (it says it's insurance group 5) and only has hubcabs. Yellow/Red ones for me :D.

    Buying a desil

If you took out a £3k loan (and could afford it) you could get a much newer Ibiza than those you are looking at! Have a look in my sig... I think Ibiza's stick around their value once they get to three/four years old which is nice too :). Edit to say: Check out Quinn Direct for good insurance...

    Buying a desil

It really depends how much money you have to spend - if you can realistically only afford £5k, say, then I would definately go for the Golf. Don't forget that the Ibiza for £6k will be four years old, but a £4k Golf could be upto 8 years old. The remap will give you 130 to 140bhp :D.

    Buying a desil

Nono, they do exist but unfortunately were all known as "Sports" and "SEs" whether they had the 100 or 130bhp engines. I couldn't insure a 130 at 18 either but now I'm 19 upping and changing :D.

    Buying a desil

Both of those Ibiza's COULD be 100 or 130bhp versions. Surefire way to decide is, if it has 6 gears, it is a 130bhp! The yellow one is definately 130 (because it has 6 years), but unsure about the black one. Finding a 100PD pre 04 is quite difficult unfortunately!

    Buying a desil

Personally I'd have the Ibiza over the Mk4 Golf unless you really want the extra space? The 100PD is perfectly quick, a shade over 10 seconds to 60 and upto 60mpg (mine's averaged 55mpg over the lsat 3000 miles, probably 54 over the 27k since I've owned it). Depending on what your budget is...

    Windscreen

Well, behind the RVM attached to the windscreen is what looks like a sensor -and it has an arm that runs up into the headlining not quite touching the screen. I don't know if this bit just unglues etc? :s.

    Windscreen

My windscreen has cracked almost in the middle, and the crack is about 10" long (only noticed it this morning, hidden by the RVM from the driver seat!) I think it's a stress crack as it goes right from the top - my question is, do I need a special windscreen because of my rain-sensing wipers...

    Over 100k miles?

Oh right okay... Fronts I was thinking! Never owned a car for this long before... :p Edit to add: Car had been (gently) tracked about 10 times though, will get the garage to check it out at the service...

    Over 100k miles?

What sort of mileage should I be expecting the brake pads to need replacing under normal wear? I'm thinking 30 to 35k?? Rob

I always thought people bought diesels to drive them - obviously not! :p

    Over 100k miles?

I'm not fussed, all my mates reckon I'm crazy, but that's why I bought an economical oil-burner, saves me the money on fuel, and keep going forever!! long-term fuel average is upto 54mpg now, certainly can't complain at that! :D It's just the 4 monthly services that hit the wallet a bit! :(
