  1. FR Missing Washer Level Warning is there an alternative

It wouldn't be so bad if the bottle wasn't hidden in the wing! You can't even check how much you have left. I was caught out the other day on a wet motorway, had to get off at the next exit and visit halfords for some ready mixed!!
  2. Rear wiper - nice feature

Multiple choice quiz: The wiper blade parking feature/easter egg (intermittent switch with ignition off) is to: 1. Make it easier to clean windscreen glass when washing the car 2. Make it easier to change the wiper blades 3. Stop them getting damaged in an automatic car wash 4. Keep the bottom...
  3. Dissapointed - Leon FR

Avoid SEAT and probably all VAG group cars. While the perceived quality is high, the true quality of engineering is appalling. I've had rattles, paint problems, alarm problems (estimated to take 2 MONTHS to fix). All on a 6 month old car. I don't mind having lesser quality trim in a SEAT due...
  4. problem still there

I cannot understand this "no fault code" = "no problem" mentality. The OBD was primarily designed to detect emissions problems to ensure compliance with legislation. As a bonus, having computers all over the car means you can detect other problems also, such as climate control, locking etc...
  5. It's here - I'm now in the Leon club!

FSD Price I paid about £360 for the FSDs (from http://www.europerformance.co.uk) and another £150 to have them fitted by a local SEAT specialist (JKM, who did an excellent job). OK, "not very mechanical" explanation: They are the "damper", often incorrectly called a "shock absorber" which is...
  6. Is the new Leon a "family" car?

You can put a child seat in the centre rear seat and still get two adults either side (ours is a maxi-cosi priori XP, it has corners "notched out" of the base so you can still access other seatbelt buckles, *every* other seat we tried covered them rendering the adjacent seats useless). Boot...
  7. It's here - I'm now in the Leon club!

I have the petrol FR and as has been posted on other threads, I have fitted the Koni FSDs to improve the ride - it has made approx 20% (subjective) improvement in the ride quality. The roads around here are so bad that before the upgrade anyone in the passenger seat couldn't even speak (like...
  8. Alarming

I'm beginning to think the alarm problem may be related to the wet windows thing - moisture inside doors, where there's a microswitch sensor, any damp on the PCB could make the sensor think the doors are open and hence set the alarm off or turn the interior lights on while driving. I am an...
  9. Listening for rattles!

Most of the strange sounds in mine tend to come from the Missus due to the bad ride quality ;-) Just turn the stereo up so you can't hear them... oh, no, that causes the speakers to rattle. Apart from squeaky door seals (fixed quickly by dealer) and a buzzing rear view mirror (which seems to...
  10. Aftermarket Suspension

My July 06 FR TFSI was the 55mm diameter - your garage should be able to tell you based on your chassis number (JKM in Portsmouth looked mine up). I think I paid about 3 hours labour also (for dampers only, but doesn't take much longer to do springs while it's all apart).
  11. The Leon cometh tomorrow! Some questions?

Anti-hijack can be disabled through VAG-COM, search the threads there. If you can find someone local who has the gear, they'll probably do it for you pretty cheap. Dealer may do it, but they seem a bit worried about things like that due to possible insurance co. comeback etc. (it's a security...
  12. Aftermarket Suspension

Had FSDs fitted to my TFSI FR, about £500 parts & fitting, kept standard coils. JKM at portmsouth did a fantastic job. Ride comfort is about 20% better and handling over rough roads about 50% better, with improved traction (before it would wheelspin after going over a bump, like the wheels...
  13. Leon Steering

Mines always done this - just assumed it was normal for electric assistance rather than pumped. Also makes a loud clunk when the rack passes through the straight ahead. As it did it since new I assumed it wasn't a fault ! Maybe they could look at it during the few months they're fixing the alarm.
  14. Alarming

Question for Insider or other in the know: Do you know if it has been confirmed as a definite software problem, as I've discovered Mk IV Golfs had exact same problem, but it was caused by poor quality soldering on the "cherry" microswitch in the Bosch-made door lock module. Mine didn't go...
  15. Leon 1.6

 As far as my knowledge of engineering goes, "spirited" driving :drive1: shouldn't break the Alarm software.
  16. Leon 1.6

TFSI FR eats tyres too. My front PZERO Rossos are down to the tread-wear indicator after 4500 miles. Brake pads are lasting ok though, despite regularly fading/smoking.
  17. Leon 1.6

I'm driving a 1.6 Leon II courtesy also while my Leon II FR is in for a few months to have the alarm fixed. Interior trim is identical to my FR apart from gearknob, steering wheel & seats. Door cards in particular are very plasticky. Carbon look soft-touch on dash is nice, shame it's not...
  18. problem still there

welcome to SEAT ownership. Seems to be the way the dealers work - talking to the mechanics they seem to have *no* diagnostic skills. Just guess a part, try it, then order another etc. etc. [:@] See "Alarming" thread for my problems.
  19. Alarming

Will do thanks. Apparently you can still reject a car after a longer period, but must accept a reduction in refund for useage you've had. Or you can negotiate a reduction in purchase price (i.e. part refund and keep the car). This sort of thing from SEAT UK now makes me laugh, I couldn't have...
  20. Alarming

Shockingly Bad Quality/customer Service Now just been told by dealer it could be up to 2 months before they get the part !!!! FFS !!!! Obviously they are still building LEONs, so MUST have the parts for production but obviously won't reallocate them to fix existing faults. So my £17K FR...
