Just digging this thread out of the archives......
Got this issue on my Wife's '54 plate Altea.
Will be taking a look at the above DIY fix one evening this week :)
Spotted my first Ateca this morning, nice white once heading on the A52 in towards Notts.
Looks good in the flesh. Tempted to see what lease deals are about next June when mine's due to be replaced..... :D
Hi all,
Been a while since I've needed any help with vag-com, so thought I'd see if anyone on here is in the Derby/Burton area, and wouldn't mind clearing some error-codes on the Mrs' Altea?
Cheers,
Andy
When I fitted the one to my old Exeo, I tapped in to the wiring loom on the NSR rear of the car in the boot, and then affixed the relay-box to the inside of the NSR wing.
The humming that sounds like a wheel bearing, will actually be the rear-tyres worn on the inside edge due to the rear alignment being out.
I had it on my old Altea, and also on the wife's current Altea.
You need to find somewhere with a Hunter 4-wheel Laser Alignment Rig, and get it...
Tnanks for posting this info, my wife's '04 Altea is doing something very similair to the symptoms you've listed above.
Will be checking the condition of the wiring loom asap.
Thanks :)
Interesting, I'll have a search.
Managed to find my multimeter last weekend, and tried to measure the battery voltage when the wipers were activated, but the wipers don't work when the bonnet is up! The only way I was able to do it, was to measure the voltage at the cigarette lighter point...
Drove the Mrs' Altea yesterday for the first time in a while, and whilst out it started to rain slightly, not enough to have the wipers on permanently, but enough to do it manually (flick the right stalk down) once in a while.
However, when I did this, the engine hesitated/stuttered everytime...
Just dragging this one out of the archives ;)
Just fixed this very same issue on my wife's Altea, after recalling having it on my Altea (6-years ago!!!!) ;)
Bought some cheap winter tyres (on steel rims) and fitted them to 'prove' my diagnosis of uneven tyre-wear rather than a wheel-bearing...
I had the same with the Mrs' 1.6 Altea, pipes were split and taped up.
Replaced with new pipes at the weekend, and all running nice and smooth again ;)
Also replaced the broken rear fog-light, and seat-belt buckle.
Just need to find a new glove-box lid now......
I had some Uniroyal RainSport 3's on my Orlando last month, for only £125 each in 235/45/18 size, pretty impressed in the wet weather we've had this month.
Hopefully they'll do better mileage wise than the Avin ZZ5's I had on previously, only managed 17k from a set on the front!
