Glad to hear that you had it sorted out. A similar thing happened to me. It turned out to be a rear wheel bearing as well as a front one. When the specialist went on about the gearbox I was ready to ditch the old girl.
Which manual are you referring to? If it's in the SEAT owners manual where did you see that? I couldn't find reference to auto dip.
I noticed that the dashboard lighting dips too. My guess is there's a design fault in power management of the lighting circuit(s). I can't see this as being an...
Every time the car is idling the headlight beam appears to dip down momentarily. I've tried the beam levelling switch on all its settings in vain.
The alternator was changed around a year ago, but that didn't make any difference.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Finally got round to checking the tyres. Unfortunately it turned out to be a rear wheel bearing. Now that's been fixed the car sounds better than when I first bought it. 110k miles and smooth and quiet as you'd like. :D
Sorry, I should have said it's a growly, grinding noise when heard from within the car. The exhaust was therefore the obvious initial suspect. Would a tyre sound like that?
Around 6 months ago I hit a kerb and flattened a tyre with no other obvious damage. Replaced the tyre and had no more problems. Until recently.
The noise is noticeable at low revs and is worst between 3000-4000 revs when cruising on the motorway. It is also there on decelerating. The exhaust...
My Toledo has a similar problem. Around 6 months ago I hit a kerb and flattened a tyre with no other obvious damage. Replaced the tyre and had no more problems. Until recently.

I actually wanted a new matching tyre to replace the punctured one. But they didn't have any in stock. I'm sceptical too, but so far the tyre has been as good as a new one.
I don't think that I'll ever buy brand new tyres again unless I absolutely have to. I paid around £85/tyre for a set of Michelins a year ago. Then
one got an unrepairable puncture and at short notice I got a nice Goodyear part worn with 7mm (matching the opposite tyre) tread left for £30...
Within a mile of starting the car up from cold, if I break hard the front end wobbles and I can feel pointed resistance in the brake pedal. Thereafter it's gone.
The pads and disks have plenty left in them.
Any ideas?
