  1. Is the FR the best sporty diesel option ?

I'm actually tempted to go for an impreza boxer diesel next though it seems not many people have driven one, so I'm tempted to know what people think of it/the engine. I know it wouldn't be anything like the performance of my ibiza cupra tdi I have at the moment but it will only be as a daily...
  2. Diesel Owners

So does the 170Bhp 2.0 CR TDI in the Facelift FR appear to be a good bit more economical that the older 2.0 170 PD unit? Also interesting to see the mileage of cars with Stage 1 remaps. They seem like they are getting better mpg when remapped. (ofcourse driving type and style are still huge...
  3. What to do... (thinking of changing Cupra TDI for new Leon FR TDI)

That's motivation. lol It really could do with getting remapped, to a nice progressive map to get rid of the lag and smooth out the torque delivery.
  4. What to do... (thinking of changing Cupra TDI for new Leon FR TDI)

Well I could always do the sensible thing and just remap the cupra and put in some decent suspension. Then concentrate more on my mk2 golf gti and making it go and handle as good as possible. It's definitely not a daily though, anytime I've been in it I've only been getting 21-24mpg lol, but...
  5. What to do... (thinking of changing Cupra TDI for new Leon FR TDI)

Would be kinda a backwards step considering I went from an FR TDI to the Cupra TDI lol...
  6. Your 2 best - Mk2

That's a very good rolling shot. Car actually looks almost white rather than silver in that picture.
  7. Ibiza Cupra Diesel - things I should look out for?

I find due to the suspension being so crap on the bumpy roads over here that the wheel alignment is constantly getting knocked out and causes uneven tyre wear. Definitely have a good pull/shake on both of the front wheel's as you will be able to feel if the wheel bearings are out their way out...
  8. Your 2 best - Mk2

lol, that's quite a respectable amount of smoke, and nothing compared to some of the 306 D-Turbo's about here with the turbo screwed right out and probably on red diesel too. It's a good pic, and looks like the only thing your missing to finish the car off is a spoiler.
  9. Your 2 best - Mk2

The facelift actually looks better than I thought (i still haven't seen the front of one in person yet). Cupra front bumper looks alot better than the FR one too with those air vents and I like that spoiler too, is that standard on the cupra or do seat charge you for that like everything else?
  10. What to do... (thinking of changing Cupra TDI for new Leon FR TDI)

I'm running Toyo Proxy T1R's, anything else I've tried up and around that price range are ditch finders. I find the handling is nose heavy with not enough feedback coming through the steering and seat. Turn in I think could do with being sharper too. It could just be that my mk2 golf gti is...
  11. Your 2 best - Mk2

Anyone got a facelifted Leon in red (FR or Cupra)? Ideally with side-skirts and spoiler fitted? I haven't seen any real good shots of the facelifted model yet to help me decide if I like it or not?
  12. Buying green cotton panel filter

Can't go wrong with either the Green or K&N cotton panel filters tbh. I have a K&N filter on my Cupra TDI and had it on my FR TDI before that and it did make a difference. Some people say the Green filter flow's 'abit' better than the K&N one but I'd say there's probably very little in it.
  13. What to do... (thinking of changing Cupra TDI for new Leon FR TDI)

As the thread title says, I currently have a cupra tdi which is coming up on 3years old and I'm trying to decide what to do. If I keep it then I'll get coilovers, remap and then later on an uprated clutch and LSD for it. I love the cupra but tbh, it really doesn't handle as good as I'd like (i...
  14. My 16v Nurburgring experiance

So dolly when you taking the G60 over for a few laps?
  15. Push Rod/ clutch cable self adjuster

If the self adjusting clutch cables for the mk2 ibiza are anything like the ones for the mk2 golf then, you should get rid of it asap. I replaced the clutch cable on my golf and the new one was a self adjusting one and after one night I got completely fed up with it as sometimes the self...
  16. mk2 Golf GTI 16v or mk2 Ibiza GTI 16v?

Anything sub 100k mileage goes for daft money, or if it's sensibly priced it's sold within a day or two. Missed out on a 1991 oak green 16v with recaro seats that had only 89k on the clock as it was sold within a couple of days.
  17. mk2 Golf GTI 16v or mk2 Ibiza GTI 16v?

Mileage is 148k, but that didn't bother me as I fully intend over the winter to strip the engine down and rebuild it replacing piston, rings, valves, cams, possibly the crank and add a baffled sump and windage tray. Paid £1300 for the car, it isn't mint but I was just after something that was...
  18. mk2 Golf GTI 16v or mk2 Ibiza GTI 16v?

Only got up a short while ago and its been raining, so no pics just yet. Gives me time to source parts though.
  19. mk2 Golf GTI 16v or mk2 Ibiza GTI 16v?

Well, I took the plunge and after plenty of searching I bought a 1990 mk2 golf gti 16v 3dr in red from wales (infact I'm only just back after the 3 hour boat ride and drive home from dublin port). Its got PAS, has the standard bbs ra's, lowered 50-60mm on koni shocks and has a scorpion dtm...
  20. tdi ride/suspension problem especially over potholes

I swear the suspension in my Cupra doesn't actually absorb anything it just shakes everything attached to it apart. The alloys absorb more, as I found out a few days ago when I realized one of my rims was cracked. [:@]
