  1. People that do track days

    1. Don't forget to fill up with petrol beforehand- you might get a few more mins before you run out of fuel :) 2. Petrol can is a good idea- but make sure you have somewhere/someone to leave it (and other stuff). Don't leave it crashing about in your car! 3. You don't have to hammer it every...
  2. Drove on a flat tyre...

How much tread is on the punctured tyre- is it worth repairing? Unless its pretty new (maybe >5mm tread depth left) then just get a new one. Let's say it costs 150 quid for a new one, and 75 quid for a repair. If its in the second half of its life you actually lose out by repairing it-...
  3. insurance costs

After reading this I checked out the difference between insuring in different areas- just picked addresses in my family as examples. Using exactly the same details on moneysupermarket (other than changing the address) I got quotes varying from £260 in Wiltshire, through £330 where I am in...
  4. MK2 Leon FR TFSI can it reach 30mpg...

The best I ever get is 42-43 mpg, the worst is 25-30. '06 FR TFSI. The important factors are: 1. Speed. The optimum speed seems really low- from what I can tell, pretty much once you're into 6th at about 40mph that's the best mpg spot. On slow roads like the A420 where there's a 50 mph...
  5. Is Cruise Control Economical?

Sounds interesting- can you post a link to the chart?
  6. Is Cruise Control Economical?

At motorway speeds the main work being done is balancing wind resistance. That scales exponentially, so the faster you go, the more fuel you'll use per mile. The best way I've seen it exalained is that although you're having to move the same car-shaped amount of air out of the way each mile, the...
  7. Oil capacity

Yeah I think its about a litre. Pretty sure the manual says somewhere- in the text by the image about filling with oil. Don't ahve it to hand though. As Joshy says, do half a litre or so and see how its going- you can't easily take it out if you overshoot ;) My petrol FR guzzles oil...
  8. FR TFSI - some help needed

I think TCS is the same thing as EDL- that should turn off when the ESP button is pushed. I think its only ABS that you can't turn off. Maybe that's only UK cars though. Can you make a similar noise by braking lightly- rusty discs or something like that? Sounds a bit like when I first use the...
  9. FR TFSI - some help needed

No similar noise on braking? (Something wrong with brakes maybe) No loose bits around the brakes getting snagged? Tyres types and tread depth same on all wheels- tried resetting the tyre pressure monitor in case the wheels circumferences aren't what it expects? Can you make a way to get...
  10. Loss of pressure on washer jets

In case it helps anyone, I've just put this update on my similar thread: "Quick update: stuck a pin in the gap and wiggled it around a bit, scraped side to side etc.Seems to have pretty much resolved it- drivers side good as new, passenger side produces a good jet, just not a mist. Cleans the...
  11. Washers not working

Quick update: stuck a pin in the gap and wiggled it around a bit, scraped side to side etc.Seems to have pretty much resolved it- drivers side good as new, passenger side produces a good jet, just not a mist. Cleans the windscreen though, that's all that matters!
  12. Loss of pressure on washer jets

I just posted about the exact same problem- must have both been writing at the same time! Mine's an 06 plate so similar age. Just stopped working abruptly- but in the exact way yours has. Left side tiny dribble, right side quite a powerful jet, but not the spray it used to be.
  13. Washers not working

Hopefully someone might be able to suggest something else I can try here! My front windscreen washers (both nozzles) have stopped working properly. When I pull the lever to get them to spray I get a tiny trickle out of the left one, and a couple of jets out of the right one, but they both...
  14. 2.0 TFSI spark plug and cambelt change intervals

My dealer tried to push me into getting the cambelt done at 4 years (30k miles), but that's not what my handbook says. I rang up Seat UK and they confirmed it didn't need doing yet- their answer matched the handbook. I do have a warranty though- if the whole engine blows up it is covered.
  15. 1.9 TDI - help on mpg or I may return car!!

Official MPG values are difficult to hit- not impossible but you really have to work for it. Summer seems to make a massive difference- I guess it is just 'cos the engine starts 20C or so warmer = a lot less warming up. My drive to work is 7 miles and in winter I struggle to better 30 MPG...
  16. is this the start of a big problem? ? ? ? NOW WITH PICTURES!!!

Hedge your bets and report it- book it in for the dealers to have a check. If it does blow you can justify saying that the problem existed while the car was under warranty, they just didn't fix it correctly, so they should still fix it now. Or, get an aftermarket warranty- but make sure it...
  17. FR diesel fuel range when light comes on

and I thought I was really pushing it once when I filled up 54.3L, well after the light came on. Turns out there was plenty to spare....
  18. Revo

RAC are quite a lot for me- £790/year. Maybe I live in a high risk area- I don't have any points etc. With an engine remap their quote goes up to £930. I found elephant much cheaper (about half to two thirds the price). The engine mod did put the annual cost up quite a bit still though. I...
  19. 4 year service for FR TFSI

Hi delboy, if you are low mileage like me then your will now be up to your fourth service- "4 years or 40,000 miles". If yours is a diesel then what they have to do for the service will probably be quite different. Ring up, get a quote and ask them what jobs they are basing that on. Compare that...
  20. So what does a cam lobe going feel like? (TFSI)

May not be helpful, but someone else with a tfsi sport was posting in this thread (comment #13) about definitely having to switch his cam belt at the 4 year service: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=270376
