  1. Courtesy light?

The passenger door does activate the courtesy light but it is all controlled from the drivers side door position module. The module has some switches inside and is a big job to fix. I've since sold our Arosa and never did fix it, it really was not all the effort to fix.
  2. Second hand Arosa MK2

Best thing to do is drive any VAG 1.4TDI car and see how you like it, why limit yourself to an Arosa? Try the Lupo, Fabia, Ibiza, Polo as well, there must be plenty available in your part of Europe. Tractor like? Well yes the 1.9TDI's do sound like tractors but do quieten when the engine is...
  3. Second hand Arosa MK2

Floating flywheel,, whats one of those? The 1.9TDI cars as in the Golf Leon Ibiza Fabia have a normal Dual mass flywheel, ie dampened with springs and rubber blocks.
  4. Second hand Arosa MK2

The TDI is 3cyl. but the 1.0 petrol is 4cyl. The TDI is the quickest easily and will do 55 - 60 mpg. £35 a year tax The petrol 1.0 is only 47 or 50bhp and does about 35 - 40 mpg. £125 a year tax, So all in all the TDI is the one to go for but at a much higher price. Service history is all...
  5. Re-Fabric roof

You will have to change the padding behind the fabric as well to get rid of the smell. Not an easy job, hope you have lots of patience.
  6. Spark Plugs

You'll have trouble finding the spark plugs going by your TDI username. Don't know what engine you have but the other standard spark plug tool is 13/16's in.. Which fits my Arosa 1.0. NGK or Bosch plugs are reliable. Ask the partsman for the correct one.
  7. Correct 1.4tdi fuel economy

A clean Air filter is also important for more MPG.
  8. MkI Arosa Suspension failing

Sounds like you had crappy shocks fitted then, get some good uns next time.
  9. new driver

The insurance co.s say all non standard mods should be declared even down to not using SEAT parts like the exhausts, wheels, badges etc. which seems a bit harsh. You only have to ask your broker what is permmited though. I can't say that tinting your lights is a good idea as it reduces your...
  10. Hybrid turbo.

Having a meatier Turbo will easily increase power. When remapping you don't want the max out of it as overboosting will be the next problem. If you go to one of the specialist tuners like Jabba, AMD or Awesome tell them you want longevity rather than outright power. MPG is minimally...
  11. funny whine

As this post says, Spray WD40 at idle and with the bonnet open and try spraying each pulley until the whine goes. The effect only lasts a few seconds. It may be the belt itself, if it has not been changed for some years and is glazed/shiny on the inside then change it and make sure you get...
  12. Tyre sizes

Lowering the tyre pressures a few pounds will give a more comfortable ride then if you are going on a track day pump just them up again, saves on tyre changing.
  13. TDI Faster for real world driving?

I like tractors, driving a diesel is a different experience, which I've come to like. It doesn't seem to matter how loaded up you are with passengers and luggage, the diesel car doesn't suffer in the performance and economy stakes. Even with 6gears you will have trouble finding the correct...
  14. Where is everyone ?

I'm checking in less frequently these days as I'm a busy boy, working all hours and doing track days with me Fabia VRS. Daughter is now at University so much cash required these days.
  15. Location of VIN number

Vin no. is displayed under bonnet, in the owners handbook, bottom of windscreen and in the boot floor under the carpet unless it's worn off by now. Leaks in the intercooler hoses, sloppy pedals can be detected by driving the car and see if it accelerates smoothly in all gears. Check...
  16. Antifreeze halfords

Halfords own brand is basically the same as VW's own, so if it's cheaper then you might as well use that.
