don't apologise at least you tried. They had a video from when it started making the noise and I was told it was nothing to worry about, they said the 1.4 engine is very good and no known issues & is ok to drive. Someone else has suggested the oil strainer. I will keep you updated

i just greased the part that locks into the actual flap which stops the noise. I am glad mine still operates as it should apart from the twang noise now and then when I lock the car

would something like opening the door then trying to lock the car with central locking work, might confuse the car into rethinking the door?? or is there anything blocking door catch that is interfering with it.

mine has started to make a funny 'twang' noise when locking the car. Fingers crossed it hasn't jammed open or closed but I have added some grease but it doesn't make the noise every time. Is this a sign it's on the way out or could something else be causing the noise??

Thanks for the replies. so having a higher spec battery is ok but I will call garage to find out about coding. If the series of numbers I can see on the old battery are indeed a date then they must have swapped it out as it was an ex-dealer car who are the only previous owners. Cheeky buggers!!
